Defoe to Sunderland. Altidore goes to Toronto as part of the deal plus some cash one would assume

Is he total shite, or does he do a lot of unheralded work for his teams?

Record in the USA and Netherlands (at AZ Alkmaar) - 134 games, 67 goals
Record elsewhere (UK, Spain, Turkey) - 109 games, 9 goals

This website calls him 'the striker that never was.'

Every time I've seen him play he's been awful, truly awful. His only redeeming quality that I've seen is his willingness to run after lost causes.

You can pretty much disregard his stats from the US, any league that a 38 yr old Robbie Keane can be the 'MVP' for is not really a league that has particularly high standards imo, as for his record in Holland that league is a free-for-all if you're a striker, some of the goals to games ratios in that league are insane.

I think the reason he's had a career over here (in Europe) is that he's American and therefore opens up that market to a certain extent in a similar (if somewhat less profitable) way to Asian players a few years ago.

And we just got Giovinco as well. I heard he's on about $7m a year.

Martin Odegaard joins Real Madrid for €3M. The club also bought his family a house and gave his dad a job.

And i'm sure the post was properly advertised, shortlisted and interviewed for. What a stroke of luck eh?

Sincerely hope it works out for him, clearly a huge talent, but as I posted a couple of weeks back, I'd personally rather see these players at clubs where they might actually get a run in the first team at 18 years old. Not going to displace James, Modric, Isco, Kroos, Bale etc is he?

Cant believe that wage. They have first team players paid that amount, some less even.

I did read though that both Jese & Carvajal were handed €1M a year contracts when they turned 16 as they were seen as big prospects in the kids team. Shows they are happy to pay big money to youngsters I guess.

I was on £3.10 an hour when I was 16. Suppose with inflation it would work out to be a bit more than that now, but doubt it'd be €80k a week, maybe not even half that.

Not only have RM arranged to present Odegaard to the public today (he is 16 ffs!) But a Norwegian journalist from VG has tweeted that the scenes there are 'chaos' and ' a complete mess' with so many members of the press trying to get in.

RM announce the presentation is postponed but not until when so everyone is still there.

RM would have a press conference to unveil a new junior groundsman though - and the press would still turn up in their droves. No doubt SKY would also cover it as a top story
