I've just learned that Boavista's upturn in form and them coming off the foot of the table to have a shot at not getting relegated has coincided with a new manager coming in on a 5 match temporary contract with the sole aim of keeping them up. That manager is Englishman Stuart Baxter.

This is his 21st managerial job and in the past he was the Finland national team manager, the South Africa national team manager, was England under 19s manager when Sven was in charge, and also managed Kaizer Chiefs to the South African title twice

Lamine Yamal is the best player in the world and he's not even 18.

Watched a lot of the Inter match and the Napoli match last night. Inter's game was in crazy rain conditions, where at some points you could see puddles of water splashing when the ball hit the ground and the keeper dived etc. Good win for Inter, and Napoli let a 2-1 lead go near the end due to a brilliant cross and header from some Genoa matey

A win for Inter and a draw for Napoli means there are 2 games left and just 1 point in it at the top

reminder - if they finish on the same points then they have to play a 1 off title deciding match against each other

Napoli are due to play Parma & Cagliari, Inter have to play Lazio & Como

Boavista lose the Porto derby and both their relegation rivals get away wins, and so with 1 game left to play they go back to the bottom of the table.

They have the H2H advantage on both AVS & Farense so just have to hope that both those teams lose next week and they win

Sounds like Rodrigo Mora of Porto is very much one to look out for in the future. Has quickly become a bit of a sensation in Portugal. Only turned 18 last week, debut season, attacking midfielder who is said to be very skilful and creative, and looks to score a few too. has 9 goals in 22 (I think)

€70M release clause in his contract.

Eintracht doing all they can to throw away an almost guaranteed CL place in the run in.

Since the 4-0 win over Leipzig that seemed to seal the deal, they have thrown away 2 leads in the last 2 games, both ending in draws which means it all goes to the last day of the season.

Dortmund's excellent run of form is the problem - from looking set for a lowly mid-table finish and no Europe, they have picked up 16pts from the last 18 and sit 3 points behind Eintracht with a slightly worse GD (+17 to Eintracht's +20)

The table (3rd to 5th) looks like this:

3. Eintracht 57pts (+20)
4. Freiburg 55pts (-2)
5. Dortmund 54pts (+17)

Final day fixtures:

Freiburg v Eintracht Frankfurt
Borussia Dortmund v Holstein Kiel (already relegated).

The game in Freiburg is essentially a CL play-off, with the loser heading into the Europa League unless Dortmund choke on what should be a comfortable home win.

In the 2. BL

Hamburg have finally done it! After 6 seasons of finishing either 3rd or 4th, HSV finally get over the line and will return to the 1. BL for the first time since the 2017/18 season.

Cologne need a point on the final day to take second and bounce back at the first attempt, despite starting the season under a transfer embargo.

If they lose however, Elversberg or Paderborn could grab the final spot with a win due to better GD. Elversberg, in only their second season at this level in their history are in the driving seat for the play-off place.

Düsseldorf or Kaiserslauten could grab the play-off berth but will need to win and hope results go their way.

Who they play in the play-off will be decided on the last day. St. Pauli's draw at Eintracht and their GD means they are safe so it will be one of either Heidenheim or Hoffenheim. The latter host Bayern on the final day, but their GD is 6 better (-18 v -24) and have scored more goals - so it is likely to be Heidenheim unless they can win big at home to Bremen and Bayern go on a final day goal spree.

It's very hard to disagree with this.

May the footballing gods that give out injuries just leave him the hell alone please.

Few footballers make their international debut before turning 17, nevermind 18. Yamal has 19 caps, and will reach 20 caps before his 18th birthday if he plays in Spains Nations League fixture in June.

I can't find any other player at the moment with 20 caps before turning 18. Rooney had a couple, I think. Neymar didn't debut until 18. Odegaard debuted for Norway at 15  but only won 10 caps before his 18th birthday.

The celebrations at Basel with Xerdan Shaqiri going back to where he started out and winning the title with them are pretty special (apologies for lack of link, found on X).

And he carried them on his back, too. 18 goals and 20 assists, led the Swiss Super League in both. Scored a ten-minute hat trick at the weekend in the win which secured the title.

Eredivisie

Ajax were strolling their way to the title until 3 weeks ago. They have picked up 1 point from their last 3 games (losing 3-0 and 4-0 in the process) while PSV have won 5 in a row and are now just 1 point behind Ajax.

2 games left to play and Ajax have a tougher 2 fixtures than PSV do.

Just rank poor management of the club really.

They went through 4 coaches this season.

Kylian Mbappe breaks the Real Madrid club record for most goals in a debut season. 28 in 32 La Liga games, 40 in 54 overall.

Sad to see, we had a great night at the football there watching them against Napoli (iirc) on a stag do 7 years ago.
