Whilst not a transfer as such (as it is a player leaving a side rather than joining one) but I thought it was worth a mention.

Scott Carson will leave Manchester City this Summer at the end of his contract.

He has been at the club for 6 Years, 2 of them initially on loan from Derby, joining permanently on a free transfer at the end of the 2020/21 season.

During his time at City, he has played for a grand total of 117 minutes, and only featured in 2 games - v. Newcastle whilst on loan in May 2021 (where he saved a penalty), and as a late substitute against Sporting Lisbon in the Champions league in March 2022.

He hasn't played a single minute of competitive football in over 3 Years.

Yet he leaves having won 11 trophies on his footballing CV; or a trophy every 638 SECONDS of playing time...........

Such is the modern game.

Third choice keeper increasingly a coaching and vibes role. The obvious joke would be that he does a good bingo.

I think he won't necessarily get a medal for cup finals he wasn't on the bench for but that's still something like 6 trophies.

He was only signed to fulfill their domestic player quota.

Its the exact same thing politicians are trained to do. just keep talking and talking and talking, without saying anything of any interest at all, making loads of references to other things that make it sound like they tie in to the story, even though they clearly don't, and then overly stress certain words and points to make it sound like that is a really crucial part of this and that you are having to point this out because its so important, even though it isn't. Its honestly a really weird thing to do, and I don't think its natural either. I suspect he has had some coaching on it at some point.

It’s all just boring twatwaffle. What is of interest to fans is that so and so will be signed by such and such after that it’s just tedious filler until a deal is done. These are ITK reporters who have the contacts to be able to come up with the initial news of interest then just blarney on about the bleedin’ obvious as if it’s unknown territory. Liverpool will want him to create - only Yamal and Salah created more chances last season. Given Wirtz's assets, I'm interested if Liverpool try to sign a 'proper' striker (notionally to replace Nunez, albeit of course as an upgrade on him). Someone like a Gyokeres would score a million goals playing off Wirtz.
