NTRoyal Outrageous decision.

Can only hope this triggers a massive slump aiding our fight for survival.

And Southampton to become Blackburn Mark II

DandyRoyal They play Everton and the Manchester clubs in the next 4 games. Combine that with an unpopular new appointment and discord in the camp and I really don't see how this new fella (who apparently doesn't speak English) is going to hit the ground running (only 16 games left..)

OH WELL. Good for us I feel so whatever.

Massive boost to us. Cheeky £3m bid for Lambert..

Crazy one defeat in 7! Just come from two down to earn a draw at Chelsea! I wonder how many Saints fans will be brave enough to protest against the board on Monday?

As much as I can't stand the smug git, you have to feel for him.

What a bizarre decision.

I feel for their fans I really do. I am pleased we have been that Little Old Reading mentality.

Seeing as Villa are in poor form, Wigan are a one trick pony and now this... our chances of survival must of gone up tenfold. All we need to do is worry about ourselves. QPR and Harry must be wetting themselves too at the moment.

Adkins has taken Southampton from an average League One team to the Premier League in 2 seasons... I'm not surprised. In fact if we were in there position, Anton would be getting chased around Whitley with pitchforks if he did the same to McD. And we only needed to go up the one level.

I hope they do go down now though. 1) as it will serve a lesson to Cortese & 2) so we can rob them of Cork and Lallana

OK, if we didn't already know it before, then we certainly do now...modern football is now officially a joke of a sport/business whatever.

No Adkins h8 here - thought the bloke was good, honest and did a tremendous job (and was still doing a tremendous job) - smugness? Can't say that ever crossed my mind as an adjective for him. As said elsewhere, I'd take him off the managerial merry-go-round if Brian was ever to be shot out of the cannon.

ManchesterRoyals Adkins replaced by a coach that was sacked from Espanyol with them bottom and with 9 points from 13 games.

Wow.

Actually shocked.

NO way this guy will produce better results than Adkins in a situation (like us) where we are punching above our weight. I thought Saints would be safe given how much more impressive they've looked than the likes of Wigan and Villa. Now though, I think we've got another relegation rival, thankfully.

Sign up Lambert now that his best buddy has gone, and this poncy Argentinian won't want a 6"4 meat head playing the Messi role.

I hope the Saints fans have a massive protest about this. Their board have lost their minds. Saints for the drop now.

The only thing better for us would have been if Terry Connor replaced him.

Poor Adkins.

Poor Southampton.

We'll see though.

These are pretty much consecutive quotes from Saintsweb.....Thread has jumped to 9 pages in hours all saying pretty much the same

http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?42459-Adkins-SACKED-OFFICAL!!!!!

Absolute disgrace.........I'm absolutely fuming

I feel very sad for NA. He has done a brilliant job and, in my view, is one of the brightest, young football managers about today. If we can all see this what is it that NC is seeing differently?

The longer time goes by since this decision was made, the more angry and disappointed and EMBARRASSED I become

if that's your idea of "The Southampton Way" Cortese, then you can shove it sideways where the sun doesnt shine, and have my season ticket with it. im done with football. disgusted to be a saints fan

What utter tools Southamton are

Adkins for me was a person I took an instant dislike to, for no reason I just found him annoying, but you cannot argue about the job he was doing.

This appointment will hopefully see Southampton capitulate, and after the actions of their board, they will deserve it.
