Winston Biscuit what I find odd is that you want someone on co coms or punditry who is skilled and knowledgeable, and can give insight to the viewer based on their experience. but the tv companies seem to have allowed themselves to feel pressured by the world of online football content which has become more and more stats based, and so now you get people with a great knowledge of the game, being handed meaningless stats to talk about, because with no context or explanation, the stats literally have no meaning

The people brought onto TV games should be counter to that world, and should be there to explain the human element of what is happening and why. Not just being told to discuss the 'impactful passes in middle 3rd' stat which someone behind the scenes has put up on the screen

It all started with XG everyone seemed so excited by (many still are( by XG

I hate XG with a passion, and judge people strongly on whether they buy into it (fall for it) or not.

Same, I agree with most said in this thread I like the odd stat like we all do but so many now are just ridiculous or add nothing,

A stat that tells you something valuable, giving you an angle you may well have not been able to see is interesting.

XG very much comes under stats for the sake of stats. Youngsters are armed with pointless stats these days as they can't seem to be able to just watch the game and and appreciate/critique what they have seen.

'Scanning stats' might be the all time worst I have ever seen.
