Zac, the chip you belittled earlier was sublime and to get it pretty much inch perfect as he did takes a great deal of technique and skill at the best of times, let alone in the circumstances he scored.

The last was the type of goal he'll be remembered for, but the chip was still
quality.

The goal itself was well taken. He saw the keeper coming and flicked the ball in the air, a difficult skill. The quality is in the composure. A Sublime finish is over the top, and it does him no favours when he really does do something sensational.

I'm the last person to get carried away and hype up the average, but that really was high quality ability on show and sublime is the right word for me. He made a very difficult finish look easy.

Zac somehow even makes Messi's goals seem boring

ZacNaloen
So they don't do it when Rooney scores yet another tap-in?
Appreciate Messi-truly great players don't come along too often-Pele,Maradona,Cruyff and now Messi.
Won't it be great for English football 10 or 15 years down the road if the kids get out and practise and immitate the dribbling skills of Messi rather than just run, run, run like most English players believe the game is all about?
Be envious of Messi but don't ignore his skill.

It was pretty annoying when Motson used to go crazy everytime Rooney scores goals we see in the championship every week as well.

The talentof these players is in being in the positions they get into and in Messis case his ability to run with the ball. That said, he hasn't scored from one his mazy dribbles he's famous for. He scored from beating the off-side trap, an unlucky deflection that put the ball at his feet and a fantastic passing move he was involved in.

Other than his pile driver neither of his finishes (so far) have been spectacular efforts that required sublime skill.

Tyldesley is even worse than Motson when it comes to commentating on Rooney.
BTW world-class player like Gullit describes Messi as second only to Maradona that he has ever seen
World-class player like Souness describes him as the best ever
World-class manager like Wenger describes him as far and away the best player in the world.
Not bad references those for a 22 year-old.

I'll lay it out before any vultures jump in.

I didn't say Messi wasn't good, I said what he had done so far was being over-egged by the sky sports commentators and it was getting irritating.

Messi is one of the best ever players when he turns it on, but if you use up your superlatives on the little things what do you say when he does things truly no one else can do?

In the case of Sky Sports... the same things again. It's against perspective and takes the edge off the the best things.

:D
I would like to see Zac chip the keeper after running full pelt for 30 yards-in fact very few ever in English football can I think of as capable of doing that other than Dalglish.

Reminded me a little of Simon Osborne's scoop at Oldham in 94/5

I do understand your point which is far from exclusive to Sky Sports but I'll put up with it when they go on about Messi because this was not just a one-off if you watch Spanish football every week.

Similar in that they are both chips yes, but totally different because Osborn's was from much further out, not done at such pace and in a game of totally different stature.

A couple of hours after the first leg somehow finished 2-all, yours truly The inevitabLOLe for Arsenal only has been forestalled with that nice little fightback from them --Cesc or not, they were always gonna get slaughtered on Tueserz

Whole thing reminds me a bit of Hagler v. Hearns

Mm hmm yup pretty much --and way out on a limb there too, I know

TBM Wenger needs to buy WORLD CLASS players, not players who might become the next big thing but never do. He also needs to keep hold of players and not shift them on all the time, if Fabregas goes in the summer (and i reckon he will) then its back to square 1 again

Arsenal fans need to recognise that Arsenal are being very prudent with their current transfer dealings, delaying current success for future success.

Once the stadium is paid (two seasons iirc) off they'll have more money than they know what to do with. You can expect them to make more and bolder moves in the transfer market then.

Oh that's not going to go down at all well here...

A big +1 from Northern Ireland.

Pundits have to big up games (the majority of time) like this whole shit about supporting English teams in europe.

Yes they can.

If they do they'll not win the PL though.

But I think even you will agree that it was in a game between 2 sides with 11 players, same sized goals and played on grass  Hence why I said clearly that it reminded me a little. FTR, Osborne's scoop was far better :D
