URZZZZ Moyes is a roundabout washed out manager though isn’t he? How dare he get his team to score from crosses rather than the mundane style of slowly passing it around

Sarcasm aside, do reckon they can go on to win the whole thing, European teams won’t come across many like West Ham, players like Soucek, Antonio etc

Barcelona will be tough

Draw prediction. Chelsea and City will share Benfica and Villereal. Liverpool will get Bayern. And a Madrid derby.

Have to admit I only find the Champions League interesting when the English teams get drawn against eachother. Hoping for City v Liverpool.

Was going to say no doubt Chelsea/City/Liverpool will get Benfica/Villareal

Would love a Liverpool/City route though, would be a great two legged affair

Giorgio Marchetti always looks a bit sinister. Like a nondescript Bond villain.

Yep. Looks like he got turned down for the role of Demon Headmaster, so became a mortician for a crime syndicate that harvests body parts.

Sanguine QFs

Chelsea v Real Madrid
Manchester City v Atlético Madrid

Villarreal v Bayern Munich
Benfica v Liverpool

They have switched it to Chelsea playing the 2nd leg at home so that both Madrid clubs are not playing at home at the same time (AM got to keep their 2nd leg at home as they are Spanish champions)

Seems like a fair way of doing it.

Related, in that I don't understand why UEFA cram the 8 CL quarter final matches across 4 days when they stretch out the rest of the competition. 3 weeks between the round of 16 home and away matches, yet one week when it gets to the interesting bit. And it's always a dilemma picking which game to watch.

Ftr, I also find this confusing.

The ties sandwiching the City v Liverpool PL clash makes the timing interesting.

The round of 16 is spread out so that the CL, Europa, and Conference League hit the Quarter Finals at the same time. The latter 2 have a play-off round before the round of 16, so needs 4 weeks to complete.

Much better way to do it. Either let the lesser cups have a clear round or play half the CL games to a finish over 2 weeks and the other half over 2 weeks. A 3 week gap kills momentum of the competition.

Adel Taarabt is still only 32.

Liverpool easily better than Benfica over the course of the game last night, without really getting out of second gear. Bayern in the semis will be a huge test.

Some ridiculous passes by TAA on this return to the side, his vision is exemplary. And he still has only 16 England caps. :|

Atletico Madrid are such a shithouse team. Quite funny to watch though.
