The FA certainly has an agenda against Luton.

Thaumagurist* What Stranded said. I was citing an example of something similar happening, so Luton couldn't complain. The fact that it is a different competition doesn't really disprove my point.

At least the League are showing consistency. IIRC we moaned about this in 1988 becasue it's doesn't seem right that cup-holders cannot defend their trophy.

Whistle ..... it's doesn't seem right that cup-holders cannot defend their trophy.

... too 'slack' to look it up but couldn't this have also happened a few times before in the 'minor' European club competition - the UEFA Cup - and possibly before that in the CWC?

I know that Galatasaray (sp ?) won it in 2000 vs the @rse - but would they have necessarily been willing/able to defend it the following season - [when the as usual 'fluke-ridden' Scousers beat Alaves  ]

...presumably the rules of that competition dictate that any UEFA Cup Winners who are subsequent qualifiers for the Champions league, won't be in a position to defend the title - though of late I spose they could get back in as a 'lucky' loser from the Group stages.

The other links, fine, they're not whiter than white....but an article about improper conduct in a match?

Come off it, every Bikey is serving a ban for that. You can vilify the entire club.
