don't assume i want terry replaced as captain. but if he was to be, gerrard would be, for me, the obvious choice. i don't care what a footballer does in his personal time. remember, we only hear about what they do when they cock up or get caught. not many of them are angels. theyre young men with a lot of money and women falling at their feet

But the point is when it IS in the public eye they have hundreds of thousands of kids looking up to them, so really they have a responsibility to come across as an angel in the media - thats why David Beckham was such a good captain.....

and we do the same with film stars just let him play football if his game suffers, drop him

being England captain requires you to have respect from the other players, the fans, the media and the kids - its really got nothing to do with your performance on the pitch!

Shagging around never did Beckham or Lineker any harm as England captains and ambassadors for the country, but I do see the distinction with Terry's 'cock up' being with a probably team mate and certainly a mate of the rest of the squad.

It could be a distraction and unsettling factor that the squad don't need when they're away because being cooped up in a hotel for 3 or 4 weeks will put a strain on any divisions in the camp. Will that really be influenced by whether Terry is captain or not though? I don't think it will to be honest.

...I guess this will at least mean they won't bother taking the WAGs with them this time though!
