Don't know if we had this one from last week. Lee Gregory got a hat-trick for Sheffield Wednesday at Fleetwood Town, including two in a minute. He scored his second, and then won the ball direct from kick-off, ran 20 yards and slotted home a third. No other Wednesday player touched the ball between those two goals.

Leeds self destruct button has been pushed

Meslier … is he signing for Reading next season ?
Ayling … what the hell did he think he was doing ?
Rafinha … should have been sent off for getting in the referee’s face three times, including after he’d been booked

Only question I have is, why did it take so many viewings of the incident when it was pretty obvious from the FIRST that it was a straight red

I have always been adamant totally that if a player gets in the refs face like Rafinha did it should be minimum sin bin

Think the button isn't working. 2-1 now. Let's see if there's a panic button for Arsenal.

On the scale of waste of money signings (output to cost) Pepe must be bang there with the worst of all time.

£72m - he is a joke.

1 good season at Lille and he secured himself a 5 year contract at Arsenal on a total basic wage of £36M plus bonuses.

Lol @ modern day football

It’s like every decision he makes on the football pitch is the wrong one.

Shoots when he should pass, passes when he should shoot, constantly offside...

Well that was pretty bloody impressive by Man City.

Nothing’s over until Hattie Jacques flexes her tonsils but that really should be it done and dusted.

Stats on that game were outrageous. 18 corners to 1. 28 shots to 1.

Akinfenwa in the play-off final at 40 years old, great stuff.

I don’t particularly rate him but as a slight defence, it’s hard when you know that no matter how well you perform, you’ll be back on the bench regardless. End up trying too hard and once that happens, it goes hand in hand with making wrong decisions, end up overthinking situations

the stats thing in football is going even more insane than it had already become.

I already get irrationally annoyed when people talk about assists (because they couldn't be more of an absolute nonsense), but recently I have seen further attempts at muddying the water and trying to make assists seem on the same importance level as goals but reporting goals and assist numbers together as one thing and calling it 'goal involvements'.

Today I heard Son being praised for topping the 'weaker foot goals stats'

ffs

Totally get what you are saying. Strange analogy but its a bit like toothpaste or hair control. Manufacturers keep coming out with ingredients to protect things you never heard of or realised it was important years ago, just to sell it.

XG - what is that all about? Can guarantee that next year there will be more stats around "timekeeping", "ball in play", "player on ball" stats etc etc....

Hadn't heard the 'weaker foot goals' stat, but was mentioned in commentary in the game against Liverpool that Son has more Premier League goals than anyone in the last three (I think) seasons if you exclude penalties. I know penalties still have to be scored, but it's a still a surprising stat, to me.

Absolutely. It was Wycombe in part who bumped Sunderland out of the play-offs on PPG during the COVID season, would love to see them condemn the Black Cats to another season in the third tier. Feel for Wednesday and Darren Moore, they played well last night and Gregory's goal was a beaut, but Sunderland always looked threatening going forward.
