Sanguine I'm just happy that the Brobers, who likes to put himself across as so cool and unflappable, clearly has twisty knickers over a comparison between the City, Liverpool and United teams.

His absence has been noted perhaps he is fretting over Ronaldo going and, worse still, Maguire staying.

Incidentally nobody seems to be saying much about the excellent Community Shield game where Liverpool showed that City will again not have it all their own way this season.

Just got an inkling City will fall off a little bit this season. They’ve lost a fair amount of depth in Sterling, Fernandinho, Zinchenko and Jesus.

Replaced them with Phillips who I just don’t see as anywhere near good enough and Haaland who obviously tore up the Bundesliga but City haven’t played with an out and out striker for a couple of years now so who knows if there’ll be a period of adjustment

It’s probably said every season but the quality of the teams around them this season (the likes of Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea) seems to have significantly increased, although United will struggle again

Christ. If you get a chance to watch that Ben Godfrey injury, don't.

Surprised how much West Ham stood off City today - using Fulham as the template yesterday, almost like they were giving them the points to conserve energy. Although I guess they’ll point to how easily City cut them open for their second

Find City so brain numbing to watch. The way they open up space and find space around the pitch is clever but from a spectator’s point of view, beyond tedious

Haaland is an absolute beast. His acceleration is incredible.

City players clearly haven’t got it fully sussed yet how to make the most of him (and vice versa), he was making great runs that just weren’t being spotted and yet still scored twice.

Once KDB & Co tune in properly he will score huge numbers. If he stays fit I reckon he could get 40+ this season.

Can’t wait to see him and VVD do battle.

He basically puts his head down and oxf*rd charges

I'm betting on over 30 goals from him

Went to Fulham v Liverpool on Saturday, rather than to Reading (standard).

A few observations:

- Darwin Nunez will be a real handful in this league. Doesn't have the pace of Haaland, but is probably as strong, and more skilful on the ball. Most startling though was his movement, he's like a 6ft 3ins Michael Owen.
- Shane Duffy is an absolute unit.
- Jordan Henderson might have gone past the tipping point. He's been a brilliant player for Liverpool, but second half of last season was poor, and he was off the pace again this weekend.
- Fulham's new stand remains a work in progress and frankly anyone who paid £100 to sit in it will have been disappointed, as nice as it is having a half-time pint right on the river.

Two things :

First of all, WTF are you doing going to Fulham when you could’ve be present for the mighty Royals

Secondly, what I’ve seen of Nunez is very good indeed. As you say, not the pace of Haaland but is still going to take a lot of stopping. The only real surprise is that he hasn’t been starting

Second team is Liverpool, wife works for Fulham so seats were free, also took my two year old to her first game where I could leave her with Mum at half-time. All in all made sense. I've also been to two Reading games in four seasons, so, shrug.gif.

What was wrong with the new stand? Been following the redevelopment closely and once eventually completed looks like it will be a brilliant addition.

It's not really finished. Drinks counters have got temporary chipboard and signage, there are only two mobile food vendors, and only one toilets each for men and women, on the corner by the Hammersmith End. Seats are comfy mind you, all padded.

Giving the foul is not inherently wrong

Watching Forest fans reactions when the ref is watching the screen. They really do have the ugliest fans.
And what is it with forest players when it's a stonewall penalty? Talking to the ref and points at god knows what.
Declan Rice is definitely not worth 100mill also.

I'm quite happy with the decision. If Antonio hadn't put his hands out and pushed it might have been different, but IMHO he definitely could have avoided running into the defender and decided not to.

PS Remember the promises that VAR would always give the correct decisions and there'd be no arguments after games? That went well...

What a war the Chelsea v Spurs game was. Tuchel is a massive shithouse, that was all on him at the end.

Spurs showing a bit of backbone.

Yet if it was Haaland or Salah - there’s no way it’s being disallowed. It’s the same thing every time where the same teams benefit. Not 100% sure on this one but I thought a deliberate handball to stop a shot constituted a red card as well?

I’m sure Cooper must have something on refs, from the Swansea days where they got a soft penalty every week, to the playoff final last season, to today
