TBM YouTube his Liverppol goals

Either you've forgotten how good he was or you haven't seen much football, to call him one of the worst [technically]

again you fall easily into the trap which you set yourself.

Torres nor another player cannot suddenly become a poor technical player simply -as you ascertain- by moving clubs. His style of play was changed by Chelsea which exposed his weakness.

The same as Spain:
http://backpagefootball.com/how-do-you- ... ando/7393/

and:
I remember when he was doing well at Liverpool taking (sic) to a couple of the lads there and they were a bit negative about his technical ability and what he didn’t have, rather than what he did have, which was pace and power. But the rest of his game has never been perfect, far from it, in fact.

There was a spell at Liverpool when he was unplayable because of his power and his pace, but once he lost that and his confidence went he became reliant on his technical ability, which he’s not very good at – his hold up play, his passing, his decision making, which is terrible.

So you're saying that moving to Chelsea made him lose his "power and pace"

I'm not saying he's a superstar but to call him one of the worst ever players in the Premier League is laughable. For a start you've got the majority of our squad from last season who are worse

No it's obvious his powers were on the wain before he left Liverpool. Chelsea have a terrible record in picking quality stickers either at the wrong time - Torres and Shevchenko obvious examples- or those who scored the odd good goal against them Baa and Moses. Their scouting is either woeful or overridden by the owner

RFC has poor to average players but are tagged and priced accordingly. Torres was/is hailed as a world class striker which sadly that boat had long already sailed.(al la Michael Owen who lived for years off his 01-03 form despite all the evidence)

Torres goals at Liverpool
07/8 =33
08/9=17
09/10=22
10/11=9

injuries aside it can be seen his reputation was built on one great season and the rest was average at best for a target man. people assume he was banging them in all day every day for Liverpool which the stats show simply wasn't the case.

Torres, like all players, has his weaknesses. His technical ability is not up to scratch with the likes of Spanish team mates like Xavi, Iniesta and many more as his passing often goes astray.

So he can't score the 20+ goals he should be so he relies on his weakest part of his game. Blaming Chelsea for his troubles is to avoid the real issue. He's pretty shite IMHO

You obviously feel strongly about this so we'll just beg to differ

multisync1830 So he can't score the 20+ goals he should be

Though your stats proved he can score 20+ goals in the premier league (twice) and nearly a 3rd time

Silver Fox Andy Townsend is going to try to ruin the World Cup for me, I won't let him win, the pcunt

I gave up playing Townsend bingo when he said 4 "Clive's" and 6 "little bit" in his first slot.

I'll probably also have to discount "Better" and make do "a big hand" if I am to remain vaguely sober.

I hate pundits, commentators and fans over analysing football so was happy to hear on the radio their pundit ask Roy 'how did you feel the 4-2-3-1 formation worked tonight' only to get a response of '4-2-3-1?? I played 4 midfielders and 2 forwards'

Funny how Torres has made it in to the 23 man squad for Spain whilst Negredo and Navas have been dropped

Not bad for one of the technically worse players in the Premier league who has also lost his "power and pace"

Much of a muchness really, Negredo has has hardly set the world alight recently. The biggest mistake in that squad for me is not taking Carvajal.

averages out at 20 goals a season. I'm sure a lot of teams would take that

Milner is going to start at right back against Ecuador tonight accoring to Hodgson (who should know to be fair).

"This will give him some experience of that position. He's in the squad as a right or left-sided midfield player and that's where we see him mostly, but it will be interesting to see how he gets on at right-back."

I'm amazed the England manager still doesn't understand that Milner isn't there as a wide player though....

Does sound like it's basically the reserves starting the game tonight though. I thought we'd be putting out a changed side but not such wholesale changes. I think it means the Honduras game will again be the full dress rehersal for the Italy game with Hodgson going with what he is thinking will be his starting XI.

Anyone think it's worth backing Ecuador tonight?

No

They only scored 20 goals in qualifying - the worst of all the [qualified] South American teams

Betting on a friendly? That way madness lies.

Exactly, the kind of thing only the likes of Spick would do

Plus they didn't win a single qualifier at normal altitude
