Sorry too much domestic 'turmoil' chez FoC around this Holiday period :oops: - what with planning my own games Fri/Sat/Mon and having to suffer our annual morning eviction on Easter Sat for the missus' 'Handbell Day' :? - I never quite found the on-line time to produce a preview: so here's a potential bumper edition of my 'Weekly Witless Witterings'.
- kicking off with yesterday's review and hopefully (if I have time) tacked on the end - matches available locally for Easter Monday - some early KOs too! :D

NL Results from:

Saturday 19th April

CONFS
Bishop's Stortford 1-2 Sutton United
Concord Rangers 1-2 Dover Athletic
Farnborough 3-0 Maidenhead United bad setback here – especially with Whitehawk and H&Y winning – looks like a straight 2 from 3 down, out of Tonbridge, Magpies and Chelmsford
Gosport Borough 3-1 Bath City
Hayes & Yeading United 1-0 Boreham Wood
Staines Town 3-1 Chelmsford City
Tonbridge Angels 1-1 Bromley
Whitehawk 3-0 Dorchester Town

Eastleigh crowned as Champs on Good Friday PM with a hard fought 2-1 win over Basingstoke in front of 1500+ - the youngest and I went, and the home side certainly enjoyed their day in the sun. Glad to see ‘stoke didn’t just roll over either – had a good go at upsetting the party but only managed a very late consolation goal.
PS M3 that PM was f&^%ing Sh&^e

CONFN
Oxford City 1-2 Hednesford Town - Oxford City not entirely out of danger – suffered three straight defeats, after a little flurry early in the month saw them climb out of the relegation zone. Probably need a couple more points to be certain – Histon or Stalybridge most likely to join Workington in the drop now.
Have been reading some odd things about OCFC’s financial issues which may yet turn all this upside down - travelling costs in this division can't help - maybe a restructure will see them switch south.

SOUTHP
Chesham United 0-1 Stourbridge
Frome Town 4-1 Burnham
Hungerford Town 0-4 Hemel Hempstead Town - Hemel clinch title – ‘Crusaders’ still left chasing a play-off place but both their main rivals for 5th spot picked up wins :(
SOUTH1C
AFC Hayes 1-0 Northwood
Aylesbury United 0-3 Kettering Town
Barton Rovers {SEVEN} 7-2 Chertsey Town
Daventry Town 0-0 Royston Town
Dunstable Town 3-1 Aylesbury
Egham Town 1-4 Uxbridge
Marlow 2-0 Beaconsfield SYCOB - goals from Bennet & Mealing
North Greenford United 3-0 Ashford Town (Middx) - effectively relegates Ashford (Mx) and leaves Chertsey on the brink
Slough Town 1-2 Rugby Town – :cry: Rebels fluff their lines badly vs Play-Off rivals led at H/T – and having been in contention for top spot last weekend, they could slip out of the play-off places altogether if overtaken by Barton. Daventry stay top with a game in hand over long-term leaders Dunstable Town.
St Ives Town 3-4 Chalfont St Peter
SOUTH1S&W
Bridgwater Town 0-0 Fleet Town
Godalming Town 1-2 Stratford Town
North Leigh 0-1 Clevedon Town
Swindon Supermarine 1-0 Merthyr Town
Thatcham Town 0-3 Taunton Town
Tiverton Town 2-0 Guildford City
Yate Town 1-0 Didcot Town
- grim fare all round in this division for our 'local' sides - BUT with Thatcham resigning and self-demoting to Wessex or Hellenic for 14/15 – looks as if Fleet Town could be safe – Guildford could probably drop back to CCLP – unless there are other reprieves in the offing?

CCLP
Played Friday eve
Farnham 1-1 Alton Town

Badshot Lea 0-0 Ash United
Bedfont Sports 3-3 Wembley
Chessington & Hook United 2-1 Colliers Wood United
Epsom & Ewell 0-2 South Park - recent trend between these two finally reversed - I think this might be Champions S.Parks' first win over E&E for a while
Hartley Wintney 2-4 Cove
Horley Town 1-2 Westfield
Mole Valley SCR 2-2 Croydon
Molesey 1-2 Camberley Town
Raynes Park Vale 2-2 Hanworth Villa
Windsor 5-0 Frimley GreenB&B Cup win evidently gave their league form a boost - looks as if they at least hang on in 6th.
CCL1
Banstead Athletic 0-4 Farleigh Rovers
Dorking 2-1 Sandhurst Town - 'Chicks' finally encounter a team capable of being more dump than they are - no idea where this was played - 'Fizzers' in an awful state - have seriously declined in the last two seasons - from some reports this comes form the very top - can't hold on to their management and the backroom staff, helpers etc have left in droves - very sad as are another great little club on our doorstep.
Eversley & California 2-2 AFC Croydon Athletic
South Kilburn 0-1 Bedfont & Feltham - something seriously untoward going on at this - by some accounts. Huge ruck at H/T - par for the course for SK if you believe the forum - B&F score 2nd half - Ref immediately blows for FT! :o
Spelthorne Sports 7-0 Staines Lammas
Worcester Park 2-0 Sheerwater
- Spelly & Knaphill promoted - E&C will join them with another point I think.

HELLP
Challenge Cup S-F
Ascot Utd 3-2 Wantage Town
bit of a fillip after the Yellamen’s title hopes evaporated with a defeat in the week v Ardley
Other S-F next w/e Ardley v Highworth - some of the more scurrilous posters on the Chat room are presuming should Chairman's faves Ardley get through, they'll be rewarded doubly with the honour of hosting the Final! :o I suspect there may be some 'chain yanking' going on - but they do seem to have been well-favoured - particularly when it comes to getting home Cup draws.
Premier
Abingdon Town 1-5 Ardley United
Binfield 1-0 Highworth Town – Moles on a run of 6 straight wins and 11 wins in 13 - have probably secured 5th spot which seemed a distant prospect a couple of months back.
Bracknell Town 1-0 Brimscombe & Thrupp – Robins now on a sequence of 8 wins from 9 – visit Binfield on Easter Monday.
Holyport 0-0 Cheltenham Saracens
HELL1W
Letcombe 1-2 Carterton - in spite of failing to climb off the bottom, reportedly Letcombe have been assuring visitors that they hope to be in Hellenic Div One next season. Beyond that its hard to see how they'll survive at this level as they are yet another well-run little outfit, with NO prospects of getting floodlights in their current location and probably not within a 10 mile radius - unless they can move in with Wantage.
HELL1E
Burnham Res 2-0 Didcot Town Res
Chinnor 0-1 AFC Hinksey
Headington Amateurs 2-0 Chalfont Wasps
Maidenhead United Res 1-1 Milton United
Penn & Tylers Green 4-3 Finchampstead
- Hinksey with wins in their three remaining games, could yet pinch the title from Milton - both likely to go up.

WESSP
Fawley 0-3 Whitchurch United
WESS1
Andover Town 1-1 Petersfield Town
Laverstock & Ford 4-0 Fleet Spurs
Pewsey Vale p-p Hayling United
United Services Portsmouth 2-1 Tadley Calleva

... having been thrown out on to the streets and told NOT to return (until 17:00h :twisted: ) , youngest and I headed cross country up to the golden metropolis of MK. Sadly the near demise of Little Chef reduced our preferred brunch options but we found a chain of an American Burger outlet called 'Buddies' (actually think they are from Northampton) :wink: had taken over one of the sites. Pricey but OK and was located close to our 'double.
First up:
SSM Div 2 - 13:00 Old Bradwell Utd 3-2 Wolverton Town - in the deepest ghettos of MK north of the Station - lovely surroundings actually apart from the busy railway line looming over the ground and the need to keep fishing wayward clearances out of the Canal with a net on the end of a gert big rod. :lol: Comfy-ish clubhouse but the beer was rotten and the old codger took so long to produce a half of the stuff - I couldn't be ar$ed to take it back. Looks as if they were warming up a BBQ but most likely were going to have it after the Ressies match which wasn't due to start until 16:00h. So we daperted the leafy suburbs and headed further north to:

SSM Div One Stony Stratford 0-3 Risborough Rangers - lovely ground, quiet setting but tricky to get to - as its only entrance is across/squeezing around the side of a Cricket Pitch; which was active this PM. We had to keep pausing as we made our way - as fast as decently possible - eg behind the bowlers arm. Doubt if the two clubs clash that often - only for the odd game April/May and July/August - but the football clubhouse is located somewhat bewilderingly back adjacent to the Cricket Pavilion - not quite as far as Holyport for those familiar but almost as tight for a half-time 'snifta'.
Fortunately some common sense prevailed and they'd arranged their Tea Interval to co-incide with Half-Time - so the dash to/from clubhouse was not inconvenience the Cricket. Clubhouse functional - no obvious hot food available - as I'd suspected - hence the need for a big meal aforehand.

Royal Rother Just heard that another one of our regulars sustained a fractured metatarsal on Saturday. :shock:

The recent injury run has been amazing - but, as I've said before, lots of our players are also turning out for Sunday teams, which leaves no time for recovery and it's entirely logical that, as the season wears on, more and more injuries will creep in.

Believe me now then RR?

Four Of Clubs Farnborough 3-0 Maidenhead United bad setback here – especially with Whitehawk and H&Y winning – looks like a straight 2 from 3 down, out of Tonbridge, Magpies and Chelmsford
Tonbridge Angels take that last spot.

Maidenhead survive (yet) again...well done Drax!

Slough getting the jitters. Injuries to ex Windsor (& Eton) players Ryan Parsons and Dave Woozeley seem to have buggered them in the last couple of games where they have been (reportedly) awful.

Windsor drew 0-0 at 2nd placed Camberley in a hard fought but uninspiring game.

Whilst I was "warming up" at Chesham before the B&B Cup Final, I was chatting to some regulars and they were getting excited about their fixture today away to Hemel. They thought that a crowd of around 1,500 would be present.

Hemel Hempstead Town 2-1 Chesham United with an attendance of 1,943. Brilliant effort by all concerned.

..errr sadly I don't think so - just yet - there are THREE relegation slots - and TWO are now filled (Dorchester & Tonbridge) - leaving one between:

17th Chelmsford.........P40 46 pts GD -19
18th Hayes & Yeading ..P41 45 pts GD -6
19th Whitehawk .........P41 45 pts GD -15
20th Maidenhead....... P40 42 pts GD -16

Magpies have some arduous fixtures - away vs Havant and W on Wed, which is their game in hand - the Hawks are pushing for a PO spot and bt Champs Eastleigh today. :? - MUFC finish next Saturday @ mid-table Bps Stortford.

No indication from the Tw@ttersphere that there are any reprieves on the horizon for this division so, as I tried to put in the preview, it was 2 slots left out of 3 still to go down - as above it is now perm any 1 from 4 clubs for the final (20th posn) relegation slot.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Will put the review on probably hopefully by sometime tomorrow if I get the time - may even have a dash now but its getting late and I'm getting irritated with my daughter's PC - oversensitive touchpad :shock: if you see what I mean.
Royal Rother Slough getting the jitters. Injuries to ex Windsor (& Eton) players Ryan Parsons and Dave Woozeley seem to have buggered them in the last couple of games where they have been (reportedly) awful.
You've been reading the forum haven't you?!
Beaten by Rugby on Saturday - best team we've played all season, no shame in that but losing Parsons early on was a blow, when you have to move a winger to left back to get roasted time and time again.
Today was different - Aylesbury, nothing to play for,long injury list (including nearly all the ex-Rebels bar Perkins) should have been dispatched, but their keeper and some poor quality in front of goal kept it level until one of their crosses went straight in over the keeper just before half-time. They scored two more just after the break and it was all over - their game plan of launching it paid off. Still, Rugby did us a favour by beating Barton Rovers, so we now need to beat Chertsey (2nd bottom, already down) on Saturday to qualify for the play-offs.
Any of the teams above us (Pcuntstable, Daventry, Rugby, Kettering) could still win it, so it will be a great end to the season.
AthleticoSpizz ahem.....Havant & W 1 - 3 Maidenhead
Yup first step to possible survival taken with a considerably big stride - sadly Chelmsford put themselves beyond danger with a win over Gosport. Leaving it a three way fight now between Magpies, Hayes & Y and Whitehawk all on 45 points - Maidenhead currently out of bottom three but only by virtue of being one goal better off than Whitehawk.
Basingstoke went down 0-1 at the Camrose v Concord Rangers.
In the Hellenic Bracknell got to the Final of the Supplementary Cup this evening 2-1 vs Magpies Ressies - they'll play Brimscomb & Thrupp in the Final.
In the Floodlit Cup Final tonight @ Shrivenham, Brimscomb beat Wantage 4-2 aet.
Tonights' League game saw WBT beat a doomed Newbury 3-1 @ the Corinium Stadium, Cirencester in front of a paltry 17 paying customers.
In the CCL there was only one Div One game - but the 2nd Aldershot Semi-Final finished Camberley Town 3-2 Ash Utd. The Krooners meet Alresford Town at the Rec on 30th April.
Decided to stay local and early - braved the downpours - nipped along the A4 to Padworth for an 18:00h KO in the Reading Senior League: Reading YMCA 5-0 Sadnhurst Devels - nice little ground behind Village Hall - no facilities as such this eve - bizarre Dog Training Competition ongoing alongside the pitch. Looks like a regular event.....
Final fixtures:
Bishop's Stortford vs Maidenhead
Hayes & Yeading vs Dover
Whitehawk vs Sutton
Maidenhead have the easiest fixture on paper. Sutton are the second best team in the division, Dover need a win and hope for other results to go their way to get in order to get into the play-offs. But it would be very 'Maidenheadesque' for them to go down and save next season's York Road tenants Hayes, who could retain Conference South football in the town at MUFC's expense :lol:
I've only been to 5 Maidenhead games this season, living a reasonable distance away now. Instead I will be awaiting news from the Essex/Herts borders whilst at Oxford City vs Bradford PA on Saturday, quite enjoying my visits down to Court Place Farm. They are safe thanks to Vauxhall Motors resignation from the league, but as has been alluded to who knows as to their long term future under some yank krank's ownership :|
Walton Casuals 2-2 Guernsey -Guernsey finish 5th and in the Play Offs – will face Folkestone Invicta – coincidentally their visitors for their final regular season match this Friday.
Not necessarily - Folkestone are only a point behind Leatherhead, who are playing Worthing (who themselves have nothing to play for). And Guernsey will finish 4th.
Moving tonight's match from Saturday has caused some friction, not least because it gives Leatherhead the advantage of knowing exactly what they need to do to finish 2nd and have an away trip to Burgess Hill or Hastings rather than Guernsey. I'm going to quote the good fellows at ormering.com here...
GFC had a signed contract for exclusive use of the ARS on 26th April ages ago. It has subsequently come to light that someone else also had a signed contract for exclusive use of the ARS on the same day. So two sports clubs with contracts for exclusive use of the same facility on the same day. The other party to both contracts had to make a choice as to which booking they would honour and they didn't choose GFC (obviously).
Now 26th April just happens to be the day of the inter island junior rugby festival so it doesn't take a genius to work out what's happening at the ARS that day. Presumably C&L's decision was swayed by the numbers of people already booked to visit and stay on the island for the eggchasing jamboree (this would exceed 500 if past events are anything to go by). So it was a toss up between upsetting/annoying 500+ or doing the same to a few dozen (not to mention a 1000+ GFC fans who wouldn't have seen the game).
The league stated that the match had to be played in Guernsey on Friday or in the UK on Saturday at 3pm. As of Monday morning we were expecting a statement saying the match would be played in Lancing but a flurry of activity and, seemingly, a change of mind by Folkestone has led to a move to Friday.
NL Fixtures for Sat 26th April
CONFP {17:30 KOs}
Aldershot Town v Hereford United
Tamworth v Woking
CONFS
Bishops Stortford v Maidenhead United
Concord Rangers v Bath City
Eastleigh v Boreham Wood
Ebbsfleet United v Dorchester Town
Farnborough v Eastbourne Borough
Gosport Borough v Bromley
Hayes & Yeading Utd v Dover Athletic
Staines Town v Basingstoke Town
Tonbridge Angels v Havant & Waterlooville
Weston-Super-Mare v Chelmsford City
Whitehawk v Sutton United
- most of the 'ups 'n downs' been covered - Eastleigh are Champs: PO spots currently filled by Sutton then Bromley - who'll be the home teams in the 2nd legs on Sat 3rd May - 1st Legs due Wed 30th. Remaining two places up for grabs between Ebbsfleet, Havant & W, both on 68 pts; and two points behind, with an outside chance, are Dover Athletic (which possibly eases MUFC's plight as they need a win and go to H&Y)
CONFN
Oxford City v Bradford Park Avenue - forgot about VM's demotion but Oxford City safe anyway.
ISTH1S (Friday 25th April)
Result: Guernsey 2-2 Folkestone Invicta
- And as stated above Guernsey finish 4th and will travel to face Invicta again in the Play Off S-Fs – unless the ‘Tanners’ (Leatherhead) lose by 2 or more goals at home to Worthing this PM. In which case they will be the opponents. Other play off slot between Burgess Hill and Hastings - Merstham could mathematically still 'push in' but only with a big win over Horsham and unlikely defeats for the other two.
SOUTHP
Chesham United v Weymouth
Frome Town v St Albans City
Hitchin Town v Stourbridge
Hungerford Town v Bideford - 'Crusaders' could yet make the POs with a win - providing one of Stourbridge or St. Albans lose away - though 'StAlebuns' are 3 goals better off - a draw for Stourbridge will put them in the Play Offs as they have a very superior GD.
Team finishing in 5th would travel to Runners Up (behind Champs Hemel H) Chesham in the PO S-Fs. Other participants will be Cambridge City - but the positions from 3rd-6th are too close to work out all the combinations.
Truro City v Burnham - Burnham finish just outside the bottom three - but will need to start re-building sharpish if they don't want their woeful 2nd half of the season form to continue in 14-15.
SOUTH1C
AFC Hayes v Rugby Town
Aylesbury United v Ashford Town (Middx)
Barton Rovers v Northwood
Daventry Town v Chalfont St Peter
Dunstable Town v Uxbridge
Egham Town v Leighton Town
Marlow v Royston Town
North Greenford United v Kettering Town
Potters Bar Town v Beaconsfield SYCOB
Slough Town v Chertsey Town
St Ives Town v Aylesbury
- again some of the PO stuff has been covered in part above but as of this AM this league is one of the tightest - still 4 possible winners: Dunstable Town, Rugby Town, Daventry - (who have slumped near the finish line and squandered their three games in hand, picking up only 1 point from 9) and Kettering. Fourth PO slot is between Sluff and Barton.
SOUTH1S&W
Evesham United v Guildford City
Godalming Town v Taunton Town
Mangotsfield United v Didcot Town
North Leigh v Paulton Rovers
Swindon Supermarine v Bishops Cleeve
Thatcham Town v Merthyr Town
Tiverton Town v Fleet Town
CCLP
Badshot Lea PP Camberley Town - waterlogged
Bedfont Sports v South Park
Chessington & Hook United v Ash United
Epsom & Ewell v Hanworth Villa
Farnham Town PP Croydon - waterlogged
Hartley Wintney v Colliers Wood United
Horley Town v Frimley Green
Raynes Park Vale v Wembley
Westfield v Cove
Windsor v Mole Valley SCR
- mostly sewn up now though some interesting permutations at the bottom - Alton have finished their fixtures and are down - but any two from five can join them - looks likely to be Chess 'n Hook & Ash Utd - though there are a few games to be settled before season's end.
CCL1
Bedfont & Feltham v Banstead Athletic
Dorking PP South Kilburn
Sandhurst Town v Eversley & California
Spelthorne Sports v Knaphill
Staines Lammas v CB Hounslow United
Worcester Park v AFC Croydon Athletic
- as above more or less done & dusted with Spelly & Knaphill up - Eversley & California currently 3rd and virtually there but could be caught by Bedfont & Feltham - though hard to see E&C NOT getting a maximum at lowly 'Fizzers'
Hellenic Challenge Cup S-F
Ardley United v Highworth Town
HELLP
Ascot United v Wantage Town - Freds have two games left - are 1 point behind leaders Ardley but have stuttered with a couple of Cup defeats in the last week. They probably need to win against the Yellamen to give themselves the upper hand - should realistically pick up three points on Monday at relegated Abbots whilst, as stated below Ardley last match is a tougher one at Bracknell - also on Monday eve - when the Premier league campaign will more or less conclude - one more fixture of little consequence to be played on Wednesday - I feel the clubs have performed miracles to finish the league this early.
Brimscombe & Thrupp v Reading Town
Cheltenham Saracens v Holyport
Highmoor Ibis v Newbury
Shrivenham v Binfield
Wootton Bassett Town v Kidlington
- down at the bottom looks as if the 4 relegation slots are filled by Ab Town, Holyport, Newbury and Ab Utd but would be unusual if ALL four go down. Confusion reigns as part of the odd numbers game played by the Hellenic Committee. I'm not sure if anyone is coming down from STEP4 - possibly Thatcham - they will probably promote one of Ardley or Wantage - leaving the resolution down to grading issues amongst the STEP06 contenders and how many clubs they want to start in the Premier next season. Let too many up and their Div One constitutions are untenable. :|
HELL1E
Maidenhead United v Woodley Town
Wokingham & Emmbrook v Burnham
HELL1W
Easington Sports v Shortwood United
Old Woodstock Town v Fairford Town
Reading S-F
14:00 Finchampstead v Henley Town
- other S-F between Bracknell Town & Wok & Emm to be played on Tue 6th May @ Larges Lane. 'Robins' re-arranged league clash with Nomads was postponed last night what with the return of the wet-stuff. Next match on Monday Evening H v current leaders Ardley.
WESSP
Alresford Town v Moneyfields - Alresford's last league game - currently sit top but Vase Finalists Sholing have 4 matches left and are only 2 points behind before today. Fairly certain the 'Boatmen' will decline promotion to return to the Southern League after only one season back in the Wessex - much like Thatcham, I think they've decided to shun the extra travelling involved and remain at STEP05 for a while.
Bournemouth v Whitchurch United - Whitchurch finish a respectable mid-table
Winchester City v Lymington Town - City tailed off a bit - will probably finish 5th - having been in contention a few months back - suspect they are not ready, financially, to try again at the higher levels.
WESS1
Andover Town v Ringwood Town
Hythe & Dibden v Andover New Street
Petersfield Town v United Services Portsmouth
Tadley Calleva v Fleet Spurs
- good tussle at the top in this division - last game of the season - both sides should go up to the WESSEX Prem anyway so only the title at stake. 'Born again' Andover Town who've sat top nearly all season have been reined in by Petersfield who have a terrific goal scoring record (113 to ATFCs paltry 100 :twisted: ) and now lead by 1 point. Petersfield host US Portsmarf and Andover entertain Ringwood - would expect both to win to see Petersfield grab the trophy.
In the wake of these two are Cowes Sports; Hythe & Dibden - who might prosper next term as they are moving to a shiny new ground somewhere - so indicates they may have some funds; then relative new boys Team Solent (Univ of Soton sports dept I think) and tucked in behind these, after a very promising effort this year, sit Tadley Calleva - who are also putting some investment into their ground to take it to the next level.
.... youngest has decided he does want to venture out this PM but time is tight - he's at Swim Club 'til just before 14:00 - so range v.limited :( .
Have given him a list of matches close-by, highlighted one's with something still riding on them AND potentially decent food (usually important with my kids :wink: ) His first look seems to favour the match at Hungerford - personally I'd have them in reserve for possible Play Off visit BUT of course they'll be the away club in them this time anyway! :oops:
... went to Bulpit Lane : Hungerford trailed Bideford at HT to a pen - which looked a bit soft.
Pressed further and further up the pitch late on, finally levelled on 88' - ball scrambled in by Goodyer following a corner - then went down to 10 men for a straight red awarded vs Day (the RB). Undeterred they threw everything forward - survived a few scares at the other end as Bideford broke - Strudley in goal was superb.
Hungerford winner from Draycott via crazy bounce over keeper on 98'.
All to no avail sadly as Stourbridge and St Albans both drew to stay above the 'Crusaders'.
Surprised the crowd was only 211.
Fuller review and PO line-ups where known tomorrow...... :)
