Salernitana draw with empoli. Both Genoa & Cagliari can go ahead of them with wins today but both have tough games

From Despair To Where?
It was rebuilt for Italia 90. Bari had a half decent side in the early 90s. IIRC, David Platt moved there from Villa after the World Cup.

Platt, Zambrotta, Cassano, Jarni, a young Boban.

Bundesliga 1 and 2 finished at the weekend.

Stuttgart saved themselves with a late goal pushing Hertha Berlin down to 3rd from bottom and in to the relegation playoff.

In 2. Bundesliga, Hamburg came from behind at Rostock to claim the play-off spot whilst Schalke won the league and Werder Bremen took 2nd.

Hertha v Hamburg 1st leg is on Thursday night.

Larne in Northern Ireland needed to beat Glentoran in the play off final to qualify for Europe

Larne won it 4-2 in extra time with Ronan Hale scoring all 4 for them. His 4th goal was from the edge of his own penalty area

Hertha have confused me for a number of seasons now. They seem to invest reasonably heavily in players of a decent standard but always end up struggling.

Just goes to show what happens when you don't get your recruitment right. There's examples of that in a lot of leagues though really. To a lesser extent, you could argue Villa are similar, they've spent a boatload of money on seemingly decent players yet are stuck in a similar position every year. Appreciate it's not a relegation battle like Hertha though.

Hertha's struggles are really put into light given that Berlin's 2nd club, Union have now surpassed them and will play in Europe for the second season running whilst Hertha may end up in the 2. Bundesliga next week.

Some big clubs in Bundesliga 2. these days as well, granted Schalke and Werder Bremen have come back up. Even still, the likes of Hamburg (potentially), Nurnberg, Hannover, Dusseldorf etc are all down there. Kaiserslauten and 1860 Munich are even lower these days well.

There's also plenty of clubs who have had stints in the Bundesliga in recent years as well like Paderborn, Darmstadt and Ingolstadt (relegated this season to 3. Liga).

Monaco let in a 96th minute equaliser which meant that Marseille jumped above them on GD as they got a win, and took the final Champions League spot.

Cagliari playing bottom club Venezia so Salernita likely to need something from their game. Head to head is equal too so if it comes down to GD Cagliari have the advantage. Reckon Salernita simply need to go for the win
