readingbedding Not all managers need to cut their teeth in the lower leagues to eventually manage in the Prem.
Southgate and lots of others have shown that it's not a pre-requisite.

That was my point.
It is not cut and dried, it doesn't have to be done that way and there are exceptions to that 'rule'.

If you're good enough...

But never forget that Southgate was so, so close to the sack a year ago. When we played them at home last season, if Tuncay hadn't salvaged a draw with a very late goal all the smart money was on Southgate being sacked then.

With Gibsons track record I'm not sure that was the 'smart money.'

Big Foot The only good thing to come out of Ince's sacking is to make that Darkness look a like fool Pete Winkleman look like even more of a know nothing idiot.

He was on SSN last night saying how much of a great manager Paul Ince is and came out with a classic along the lines of "he's a great manager who gets his team playing for him and fighting for him" - where's Winkleman been this season? Blackburn have looked nothing short of heartless from what I've seen of them.

If I was a Blackburn fan, I'd be calling for those who appointed Ince in the first place to be questioned. What made him the right choice 6 months ago that has changed THAT much? The people making the appointment are likely to make similar mistakes, non?

Winckleman has another 'good, young manager' in the form of Di Matteo.
He can only comment on what Ince did at MKDons at that level, which was decent.
Very good set up there.

Alan Partridge
TBM When you come to a club and make the MK Dons captain your "best" signing it says it all really!

Replacing the most consistant and arguably best keeper in the league with a more expensive utterly useless one doesn't help either.

I don't think he had much choice in the loss of Friedel, tbf.

Yeah, from what it looked like Friedel wanted a change, and Villa is a step up from Blackburn.

I'd have bet Roberto Martinez was older than 35, seems like he's been around for ages :P

Thanks for that. My point was that he is in comparison with Southgate, not young.

I did mention Boro in my original post which I have to say was not titled "Ince Sacked" Thanks mods for changing it.

I think it got merged with the Ince Sacked thread. As thread starter, you can go back and edit your post. Edit, Subject: MODS SUCK DOGS FOR LOOSE CHANGE. For example.

He must have known it was coming sooner or later? At least he didn't walk away like Roy Keane and tried his best to stay in the job but sometimes your best it's just not good enough. He will be managing soon, but not in the prem more likely to be League 1 or 2.

Hello newbie. Your post was poor. Try using "must have" instead of "must of" next time. Ah, you know how to use the edit button, that's pretty good!!! :)

I think him signing that keith Andrews from his former Club Mk Dons was a big mistake.

He's scored a couple of goals and settled in well.

Ince's biggest problem - like Roy Keane's - is geeing his players up. I detect a common trait amongst ex-United players come managers. Bryan Robson, Paul Ince, Roy Keane and to an extent Mark Hughes at Man City ALL fail/ed to motivate players in the correct way.

83rd minute IIRC, so not really very late.

Mark Hughes didn't at Wales, where he got them to over-perform, and at Blackburn.

I get the feeling Hughes problem at City is to do with having a lot of money thrown at the club over a short space of time and little effort spent on building a squad. For example, I can see him looking at defence and midfielders while the owners might want another expensive Brazilian striker (and fail to spot that Vassell will probably be good enough, for the time being)

My dad and brother are Blackburn fans. They have been thoroughly depressed this year and for good reason after doing so well in the last several seasons. They both wanted Ince to be sacked. His record was simply not good enough. I would agree with the folks on here who believe that the chairman's appointment of Ince needs to be looked at. Ince obviously talked a good game and in actuality he seems to have bullie players. John Williams now has some serious egg on his face. Even in the first week things looked bad when he apparently forced Bentley to do 100 press-ups after a training ground incident.

Blackburn need someone like Allardyce to sure them up. It's kind of ironic really - in the summer no Blackburn fans wanted Allardyce or Mclaren to take over. I think they'll probably accept either of them at the moment.
