Germany lose here then get elminated by Ghana would be the ultimate lulz. Aint gonna happen though.

The WC does suddenly appear to have become skillz though.

I'm watching with the sound off: why no red card for Vidic? Was there no goalscoring opportunity?

Germany losing is good, now matter what it means for England.

Not sure that there was a German within 5 yards of the cross.

Not sure that this will be popular, but I think the Germans deserve to get something out of this.

LUX hang on, don't we want Germany so that they win the Group and we thus avoid them by strolling to the top of our Group?

just awonderin'

If Germany don't win the group then we have to hope they don't even qualify otherwise we'll be stuck with them if we manage to win our group.

If they lose to Serbia and Ghana beat Australia, as they are expected to do, then that means...

Ghana - 6
Germany - 3
Serbia - 3
Australia - 0

In the last round of games we'd have to then hope Serbia beat Australia (likely) and Germany fail to beat Ghana (possible if Ghana play to full potential). Good thing about that is that Ghana would still need to get something off Germany to assure qualification so couldn't exactly relax.

From England's point of view I think we'd struggle against whoever qualifies (should we qualify of course) but Germany would be the worst of the opponents.

Zigic goes close.

Serbia much improved on their first game but that sending off ... well ... that sending off changed the game completely, imo.

Exactly. Imagine the effect on the English nation if Rooney had been sent off for similar offences and then someone (Fat Frank probably) missed a pen - we couldn't even blame Labour for it.

Yes we could, there was a Labour government in power when we qualified.

It's so typically English to worry about who we might play in the last 16.

1) get out of our group

2) don't give a shit who we play next

That's got to be BS - they lost Euro 76 on pens to Czechoslovakia (?) and got knocked out of '82 World Cup on pens (I think, not sure who by)
