I think he'll be sacked by Christmas when Liverpool are struggling in the bottom half and have lost to Reading and Swansea.

It cost Liverpool £5m compensation to get him from Swansea. It cost Reading to get rid of him though I can't remember how much.

I wonder how much it will cost them to pay him off later in the season when they have had enough of his book and his bluster?

So, Brendan won't take a director of football but he will take a committee of 4 or 5 making decisions, including transfers?

This will not end well.

Liverpool fan at work was asking me about him yesterday. I gave what I think is a pretty honesy appraisal.

He is an excellent coach and a very good manager who's only management failure was not down to his coaching or tactics so much as him being a massive bell end with a messiah complex who can't handle intense pressure and thinks it's reasonable to go to the chairman asking for money to buy the "right" type of player despite 3 months previously spaffing a sizeable transfer budget on half a team that he then doesn't play.

Or, in other words, he needs to hit the ground running and not tinker too much too soon or he won't see out the season.

I was surprised they didn't sell it as a return to the bootroom mentality to be honest.

Presumably a committee that he is on....?

Why the apparent need of some to turn everything the guy says into a negative point? Laughable.

Hope Liverpool are prepared for the fact that 6 games into the season, Rodgers will declare it's still pre-season and try out every player on the books in the first team....

It is a negative point. It's not laughable.

Have you ever tried to get things done by committee? Even when you've been on it yourself?

I do this every day and I can tell you it's soul destroying and, in general, doesn't work.

It's the kind of bullshit spin Rodgers put on stuff at Reading.

Listen - I genuinely want him to do well but you've really got to take of the red tinted glasses and see this is potentially a disasterous appointmet for both parties.

^^^ Aren't 'pool owners just wanting to see if their "moneyball" approach to baseball and the red sox will transfer over to footy? Thats how transfer and stuff are decided in baseball aren't they?

winchester_royal Right, enough squabbling, how do we all think Rodgers is going to do at Liverpool?

I think he'll have them back in the top 4 within two years.

LOL at "back" in the top 4

Has the takeover failed yet? You sum up everything bad about the average Reading fan these days, full of shortsighted stupidity.

Terminal Boardom
The club scrapped plans to appoint a director of football.

"That was something I made clear I couldn't work with," added Rodgers.

Arrogant twat. Hasn't done BMcD or SSC any harm.

I suppose Coppell's enjoying his role as director of football after bottling his last 2 managerial jobs, good for him.

No Fixed Abode
cmonurz So Dave Whelan says. However Liverpool say Rodgers was the only man they offered the job. So we'll never know.

Trust Dave Whelan more than and douche from Liverpool.

I trust Wigan to go down this season.

Royal Lady I'd have been dancing around like a mad thing, but he was very understated so kudos to him for that.

That doesn't surprise me in the slightest.
