Zammo Yeah, he looks the part……if he was the frontman of Rammstein. Couldn’t agree more that his larger than life personality is enthralling, but with these type of characters it’s brilliant when your winning…..massive cracks appear when you’re not. The media love-in will soon turn if he’s not up to scratch (Kop – Klopp – Flop). I’m totally in the ‘would be great to see Liverpool challenging again camp’….I just cannot agree on an appointment that is likely to hog the limelight more than the club/players. Is that really what Liverpool need right now?

So basically, if he wins games he's good, if he doesn't, he'll be criticised.

Hold the phone.

No Fixed Abode So another £21m spent by Liverpool to bring Klopp in. Rodgers gets nearly £10m in a pay off.

They've got to win a trophy now, haven't they?

I think we can all agree that Klopp will be expected to win trophies.

I think we can all agree that whoever Liverpool bring in are expected to win trophies. Especially with all the money they've spent. Biggest spending club not to win the Premier League.

Hope he does succeed (did I not say that?) but I don't think he will.

As for betting, I've been on a losing streak since 1988.... so no thanks!

Would you not think he'd get a fairer chance with the media and fans alike if he's not playing the larger than life rock star?

Would you not expect him to play up for the media a bit to try and bring them onside with him and the club as much as possible then?

Seems to have done a good job on day 1, now he has to start building the substance.

If I was basing an opinion on just day 1 in the job at Liverpool then it would be a massive thumbs up.

I predict now that Jurgen Klopp will be an absolute sensation for Liverpool.

He will get bang average players playing, competing, upping their game and with the transfer market in mind will make a push for a top 4 this year!

no idea if he will be a success or not but he has proven repeatedly with Dortmund while they were losing their best players that he can make the team more than the sum of their parts and play gr8 football with it. Exciting for the neutral as basically any new team pushing for the title would make things more interesting and to have another team trying to muscle in on the Manchester clubs at the top of the table would add something nice I think.

To me this episode smacks of a pre emotive move by Liverpool.
Jose looks on borrowed time and Klopp would have been the obvious replacement (witness how upset Chelsea fans are that he's gone to Liverpool).
I suspect Fenway might have kept Rodgers until January but by then Klopp would probably be dragging Chelsea up the table so they bit the bullet, gave Rodgers the bullet and nabbed their man.
In doing so they may have bought Jose a couple of months grace, which is possibly good news for the rest of the league.

Not really... if anything his personality is endearing to the media, I think they'd be willing to give him more of a chance than if he was a dour miserable git.

Yep, it does look like Rodgers was ditched at the moment it looked like Klopp might be snapped up. TBF to the owners, they had tried twice to get him previously. Thought he came across pretty well and as others have said, he's probably better equipped to get the most of a fairly average squad.

FWIW, I'm surprised Koeman didn't get mentioned in dispatches. Love the way he's got Southampton playing and his affable manner in front of the camera.

More that you haven't really explained why you think he'll fail, except to say he's got quite a loud personality.

I'm a Klopp armchair.

I would actually do that for him if he asked me.
