Agreed that it was a really dull Deadline Day.

The best thing about SSN's coverage was Kate Abdo.

She's marvellous. And multi-lingual. Even makes German sound erotic.

Vision A big  at Man Utd taking Andy Kellett on loan from Bolton to (according to BBC's Simon Stone) supplement Warren Joyce's Under 21 Development Squad. It's a pretty sorry state of affairs when the biggest club in the country can't provide their own youngsters even for the Under 21's.

Janko went on loan to Bolton's first team just needed someone to come in for cover as a couple of United's U21 defenders have gone on loan as well. Nothing to see really

I'm not saying it's earth shattering but don't you think it's at least worthy of note that Manchester United don't have a suitable under 18 player to supplement their Development squad and draft in a player from Bolton who was on his way to play the rest of the season in League 2?

I thought that was the whole point of a development squad.

Five Newcastle players loaned to Rangers. Funny that.

Dunno, maybe they like the look of this Bolton Lad and want to try him out before buying.

Manset managed 1 goal in 24 appearances at Walsall before his move.

Ricky Lambert decides to stay at Liverpool.

Bad move imo. They've ruined him.

Like Balotelli, it was a pretty nonsensical signing, since he doesn't fit their style of play.

Still, if I was 32, had more money than I could ever spend and had been signed a few months ago by the club I supported, I'd probably stick around too.

That depends how driven you are to succeed. I'd be very surprised if Lambert were included in the next England squad, with the lack of game time and the emergence of Harry Kane and Charlie Austin.

It may have been a dream of his to move to his boyhood club, but with the poor form of Balotelli, injury to Sturrdige, he must be pretty annoyed at the amount of minutes he's had on the pitch this season.

A rare greed, for the most part.

http://pfascotland.co.uk/2014/news/tran ... r-players/

-Standard loans: are available until the next transfer window or effectively until the end of the season. Clubs can have a maximum of four players on loan, three of whom must be under 21. Clubs can have two players on loan from the same club as long as that club is in a different division. However clubs can only take one player on loan at any time from a club in the same division.

-Emergency loans: these loans are only available to clubs in the Championship, League 1 and League 2 not to Premiership clubs and are for a minimum period of 28 days and maximum period of 93 days. The same restrictions as outlined in Standard loans apply. Furthermore no club can bring in any player after 31 March except in emergency circumstances and any such registration requires the specific approval of the SPFL Board.

I'm pretty sure that there would be a limit to the number of loanees who can be in a team's match day squad, but in trying to find out, came across this.

I don't see how Rangers are not in breach of regulations reading the above.

Agreed, didn't Watford do something similar from their Italian club a couple of season ago which prompted the FA and FL to tighten up on loan deal rules.

All that said though, I would imagine that Rangers couldn't possibly do that without knowing these rules (and the players would have to be registered by the SFA so they would have pointed it out by now I'm sure) so as these players are all youngsters perhaps some of them are termed as work experience rather than loans.

You have to admire Ashley. Reducing the wage-roll at Newcastle and using the money he's lent Rangers to pay the players he was paying anyway.

Skillz.

To be fair to Lambert, he probably knows that wherever he was or is playing his time with England is probably up. We're now building towards a tournament that he'll be too old for and there are a clutch of decent forwards coming through, including Carroll who I expect to take his place in the squad.

He's seeing out his career at the club he supports and he's made more from his career than anyone probably expected 5-8 years ago.

As a move it made a lot of sense, apart from when they also signed Balotelli which made Lambert a plan C or D instead of B.
