... last night Almondsbury Town won comfortably 3-0 @ Pegasus Jrs and are now 6 pts clear at the top - anything less than a win for RTFC tomorrow @ the leaders own ground, Oakland Pk, and I think the title race is run.
They may even be pipped by Shortwood for Runners-Up - 5 points behind with 2 games in hand - and their run-in looks easier than RTFCs too. :?

Binfield picked up a bit after an awful recent spell W 3-1 H v Old Woodstock.

Ardley Utd bt Abingdon Town 2-0 aet in the Challenge Cup Semi-final and meet Div One West Slimbridge in the Final.

In the Southern 1 S&W Windsor & Eton picked up a vital 3 pts at Uxbridge who were playing their third game in four days. W&E now 2 pts behind Totton 1 game in hand.
Thatcham were beaten 1-3 @ North Leigh
Bedfont Green bt Abingdon Utd 5-3.
In the Premier Diddy lost 1-2 in the last minute @ Truro City
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As usual - I agonized over which NL game to go to last night - plumped for
Cove 0-4 Egham - which although it wasn't that bad a game at all ...
....meant I decided against -
Westfield 2-6 Farnham - (which included a 6 minute hatrick 12' 16' & 18') !
Its a "labour of love" FOC.......one that we love you for!
Reading Town are down to their "bones-of-their-arses" due to injuries and suspensions (in defence of their recent form)....even I would probably get a game
In regards to AFC Aldermaston's midweek WIN..................can I just take this moment to say.."I told you so"
As an aside
And before this (NL) season evaporates...can I be the first to say (and at the risk of blowing smoke up your arse)...........
Thanks FOC for your brilliant accuracy and coverage of the "other" teams that exist around the region this season.
Your posts have generated enough interest to me (and no-doubt many others) to take a look at the other local football teams that exist around here.
The kind of clubs that we may well have not bothered with..normally
Thanks again......hope to bump into you sometime at some diverse-somewhere next season
Indeed. FoC deserves an award of some sort. Either that or a new anorak. Some stunning information has been provided and because of FoC, I am going to find out where Binfield play. How do they get 130+ for home games at that level? I can't get my head round that one.
Thirded - This is consistently the best thread on HNA thanks to the dedication of FoC. Despite occasionally severely doubting his sanity :wink: , I look forward very much to his posts.
... minor warning: - Although Stubbs Lane (Binfield FC) is a real gem (especially the marvellous welcome you'll get from the ol' chap on the gate) - and don't be put off by the names on the backs of the seats - if you need to sit down - there's usually plenty of room - the ground is very well tucked away if you've not been before.
I often go for Monday night games and invariably find myself slowing to a crawl to find the way in - even in darkness the pitch (& lights) are set down below the level of the road so it isn't easy to spot.
Head towards Bracknell from the Coppid Beech exit of the A329(M) on the B3408.
Take a left turn at the first lights after the John Nike roundabout (Popeswood - used to be Shoulder of Mutton - don't think it is now?) carry on north right through the village on St Marks Rd then Terrace Rd North until you pass the Jack O' Newbury on your left and eventually reach a T junction with Church Lane (B3018).
Turn (carefully - hidden bend) right and about 150 yds on your left as the road swings to the right there is a lane off to the left (maybe signed Hill Farm) - Binfield Fc is down there.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
.... and here's this weeks' 'other' local NL sides games for those not at the MadStad-

EDIT - since I'm back on here first - here's the results:- :)

CONFS
Basingstoke Town 0-1 Braintree Town
Maidenhead United 0-2 Havant and W'ville
St Albans City 0-1 Woking
Weymouth 1-0 Hampton & R
PROMOTION: Exiles up as Champs hit 100 pts this PM 3-0 v Dover. Play Offs too close/complex to assess but any four fighting it out, from Chelmsford in 2nd down to Staines in 8th.
RELEGATION: W-S-M & Weymuff - down - Worcester down too if they don't win their last game next week H v Eastleigh - even then Lewes who won 5-0 this PM vs Dorchester are two points ahead with two games left H v Bath on Tue A v Beavers next w/e

... some of these below still have a few too many games left for the PO situation to be clear cut.

SOUTHP
Didcot Town 0-3 Cambridge City
Farnborough 2-0 Swindon Supermarine - 'boro champs if Nuneaton don't win tomorrow (Sun) H v Chipp'nem
- Clevedon T & Rugby relegated - two more from Hemel, Merthyr, Bedford or Tiverton

SOUTH1M
Marlow 1-1 Atherstone Town
Slough Town 5-1 Aylesbury United
Sutton Coldfield Town 3-1 Burnham
Bury or Hitchin Champs - Burnham in the PO spots with Chesham & Slough - but S.Coldfield are still within reach.
Barton Rovers & Aylesbury Utd down probably to UCLP & SSMP respectively.

SOUTH1SW
AFC Hayes 0-2 AFC Totton
Cirencester Town 11 {ELEVEN} -1 Bracknell Town
Hungerford Town 2-1 Uxbridge
Paulton Rovers 4-6 Thatcham Town
Windsor & Eton 2-0 Abingdon United
- Royalists still 2 pts behind 1 game in hand - are at home to their 'lodgers' this Thursday - then A v Bracknell next Sat before finishing off H v VTFC on Monday 26th. AFC Totton are at Abingdon Utd this Tue and finish H v Taunton next Sat.
- Play Offs will probably include Cirencester Town, Bridgwater and VT FC - though Frome have an outside chance of joining in.
- AFC Hayes virtually down with Bracknell who went a few weeks back.

ISTH1S
Fleet Town 6-2 Ashford Town (Kent)
- Fleet are 1 pt adrift of the last of the PO spots (occupied by Leatherhead) but Burgess Hill could overhaul both of them - have 3 games left.
Fleet have 2 games left against other teams currently IN the PO positions - Worthing & Godalming. Title probably going to Croydon Athletic or Folkestone.
Not sure about relegation since it relies upon lower level teams meeting grading reqts - BUT it'll probably be Walton Casuals and Eastbourne Town who drop down.

CCLP
Bookham 3-1 Ash United
Cove 0-0 Banstead Athletic
Sandhurst Town 0-1 Horley Town
Wembley 0-1 Camberley Town
CCL1
Eversley 1-1 Warlingham
Farnham Town 3-0 Coulsdon United
Hartley Wintney 1-0 Farleigh Rovers
Worcester Park 7-1 Frimley Green

HELLP
Almondsbury T 1-1 Reading Town - Almonds need only 1 pt from last 4 games for the title.
However still reading strong rumours from the NL Forum, that they WILL NOT be able to g/share at Mangotsfield, so if they ARE evicted from the Gloucs FA HQ - which incorporates their current ground [Oakland Pk] they may have problems taking up their place in the Southern league for 10/11.

Ardley Utd 1-2 Shortwood - Shortwood 3 pts behind RTFC 2 games in hand
Oxford City Nomads 2-2 Binfield
- Relegation never very clear cut in this division - this season it DOES look as if the top two in both Division One's would be eligible - so the bottom four could go - always an added complication of geography but I'd guess at Bicester & Hook Norton to Div One East with Malmesbury and Fairford to West - though Marlow Utd or Carterton may get dragged down. Any imbalance is usually sorted out with a sideways transfer - so if for example Hooky are placed in West then someone would move across - though there's no obvious candidates.
Other rumours abound of a few sides dropping back to County Leagues next season to avoid the grading issues. This would require even more Reserve sides stepping up - Thatcham and Hungerford's 2nd strings have been mentioned.
Also some uncertainty regarding who may drop down from above - should be Bracknell Town but they might in theory go into the CCL - which could mean a reprieve for 4th bottom - though I'd have thought Walton Casuals from the Isthmian One South, would be a more obvious candidate for them.

HELL1E
Wokingham & Emmbrook 2-2 Thame United att 135 - Wokkers still 12 pts behind in 2nd but have 5 games left - Thame would need 4 pts from their 3 to be certain of the title and have two tricky away games - though both clubs would probably go up.
Woodley Town 1-0 Eton Wick

WESS1
East Cowes Vics 3-1 AFC Aldermaston
Tadley Calleva 0-1 Ringwood Town

- in the Wessex Premier; Poole drew 4-4 @ Christchurch and also hit 100 pts with 3 games left

Martin Williams' hugely surprising comeback for Windsor & Eton continued yesterday - he came on early in the 2nd half and without making a great impact contributed to a 2-0 win that seemed, after really looking a bit disjointed for the first 75 mins, to suddenly bring confidence flowing back.

Williams has a good rapport with the fans down there - after getting in a great position he sent a powerful header just over the bar - the Windsor fans chanted "Unleash The Willooooo!!!", he laughed, flapped a hand at them and said "Oh shut up guys..."

Cool that an ex-pro still enjoys his football as much as he obviously does when playing in front of 180 people!

AthleticoSpizz Nuneaton 0 Chippenham 1 (today), confirms Farnboro's promotion to the Blue Square South

Both Nuneaton and Chippenham BOTH played yesterday :shock:

And Nuneaton still have a further 3 games to play this week!

I was at Cherrywood Road on Saturday for the fairly routine win over Swindon Supermarine. Whilst it is great to finally seal promotion it was a bit of an anti climax for Boro not to clinch it themselves rather than wait on the scores of others. Anyway we can look forward to next season in the Conference South, the opening of the new Prospect Road End and hopefully local derbies against Basingstoke and Woking (failure to gain promotion permitting).

I've been down to Cherrywood Road two or three times this season, albeit only once for a Farnborough match, but each time it's always been a welcoming and hospitable place to visit. The Farnborough match I saw was arguably the most entertaining match I will see this season, a 3-3 draw with Cambridge City. Interesting rumour I've heard recently though is that Farnborough have financial difficulties, mainly as a result of not having played any games for so long due to the weather. Will be interesting to see if it affects them so much that it affects the building of the stand...

It's been well documented that the wage bill at Farnborough is very large for the level they are at and with the previous club going bust there will always be a slight worry about finances. The fact that a winding up petition was presented to the club in March doesn't help to stop the rumour mill about financial problems despite the case being over a fairly small sum and was settled relatively quickly. However I think it's fair to say that a majority of non league sides were hampered a loss of gate receipts due to the poor weather over the winter and Farnborough were no different. I'm not entirely sure on the current status of the new stand but I think it's completion is dependent upon the raising of £100,000 by the supporters trust, so whether it can be finished before these funds are found I have no idea.

Simon the new chairman is 100% committed to the club but is savvy enough to understand the financial constraints of non league football
The new stand will be completed but as with anything its dependant on future developments and obviously with promotion increased gates help with extra income and the next steps of redevelopment push on
The winding up order was by an old coach company who were payed a little later than they should have been but in the end got what they were owed,as with any small businesses bills are payed at the last minute or just over but everyone leaves happy

The taxman did go in recently and poke about but they also left happy enough to know that the club is running to a level which makes them at least 75% satisfied

For a club like Farnborough with a good catchment area I think they are one of the safer clubs run financially and can only excel now

... right 2nd attempt - poxy timeout :evil: - round-up of local NL scores

CONFS
Maidenhead 2-1 Staines - Staines now can't reach the Play Offs.
Thurrock 0-2 Beavers

SOUTH1M Slough Town 0-1 Hitchin Town - Slough drop out of the PO spots need their 'landlords' Beaconsfield to do them a favour on Sat. by getting something from their last game H v Sutton Coldfield - whilst Sluff need a win at Romulus.
SOUTH1SW Abingdon United 0-4 AFC Totton - Totton now 5 points clear of Windsor & Eton. Royalists must win all three of their remaining games to snatch the title - starting tomorrow night H v 'lodgers' Bedfont Green - then Away on Sat @ Larges Lane vs the pitiful Robins: before rounding off on Monday evening H v VT FC.
Its unlikely that Totton will slip in their last match H v Taunton - who themselves are safe from the drop now.
Though I have read elsewhere that Andover may take voluntary demotion down to the Wessex - not sure if that means a straightforward reprieve within the division for AFC Hayes

SOUTH1SW Thatcham Town 0-2 Bishops Cleeve

COCO1 Chobham 1-2 Hartley Wintney

- I got to this one - mad dash - although traffic completely Ph&(£ed thru Bracknell - thanks for ignoring that one Radio Baaarks :evil:
- New ground for me 8) - 18:30 KO - no floodlights - Ref only played 40 mins each way - nothing much riding on the match - simple roped off Rec-type pitch small querky clubhouse with a Bar.
'Young Master Spence' and his team mates overcame feisty but limited opponents.
Big 'bundle' late 2nd half - fortunately 'Razor' did not 'get involved' and even more so - was out of earshot when some local 'goon' was sounding off at the end with liberal use of the 'N' word too. :roll:
Witnessed one moment of pure class from the aforementioned ex-RTFC legend - he glided past a static offside trap and curled the ball over the keeper into the far top corner for what turned out to be the winner.
Good to see he kept a tight reign on his own temper in spite of some 'roughhousing' from the home defence - invariably let go by the ref - who were completely at sea when faced with someone of his pace and movement.

COCO1 Westfield 2-0 Eversley

HELLP Abingdon Town 1-1 Almondsbury Town - Almonds gets the point which now ensures RTFC can only finish 2nd
HELLP Shrivenham 1-2 Shortwood Utd - 'Wood' now level on points with RTFC, a game in hand with three matches left - all at home.
- extra spice perhaps then for tomorrow nights' Floodlit Cup Final 1st leg @ Scours RTFC v Shortwood 8)

HELL1E Newbury 2-2 Milton United
HELL1E Wokingham & Emmbrook 2-1 Holyport - Wokkers ensure 2nd spot - though the title is probably out of reach now - Thame need 4pts from their remaining three games - assuming Wokingham can win all of their remaining four.
Both sides in action tomorrow night - Thame @ Woodley; Wokkers @ South Kilburn.

WESS1 Farnborough North End 0-1 Fleet Spurs

OOPS sorry missed off the Southern Premier

Nuneaton bt Diddy 2-0
Farnborough lost 2-3 @ Stourbridge to a 90' penalty.

W&E 1-0 Bedfont Green

Hard fought win - 2 more wins and we're up. Bracknell on Saturday - we're scraping wins rather than steam-rollering all teams as we did earlier in the season but should surely bag a hatful against the hapless Robins....
