Strange appointment

Is it?

Wiki:
Lambert was appointed manager of English-team Wycombe Wanderers on 30 June 2006. He led Wycombe to the League Cup semi-finals after defeating Premier League sides Fulham and Charlton Athletic. The semi-final tie, against then Premier League champions Chelsea, saw Wycombe hold Chelsea to a 1–1 draw at Adams Park before losing the away leg. This was the first time in over 30 years a fourth tier team had reached that stage of the League Cup. Lambert resigned as Wycombe manager on 20 May 2008 following the club's elimination from the League Two play-offs by Stockport County.

Did nothing special with Colchester last season when he arrived October time. But by then the club was struggling and in a serious rutt. Only two games in this season and Colchester have got off to a great start, top of the table and with a preseason under Lambert's belt, he seems t have put together a decent looking side that now has his style of play embeded into them.

Also, he has a very successful playing career behind him. He'll have learnt a hell of a lot that he can bring to his management style.

Good appointment.

Good start for Lambert, watching from the stand. Wonder if the board will give him enough time to make the dressing-room.

Why? They gave Norwich permission to speak to him very quickly.

Interesting point that, as of yesterday, compensation had not been agreed. I would have thought that compensation would be agreed before a manager was given permission to speak to another club.
