If he does it will confirm that those in charge at Leeds are completely clueless. I really like Redknapp as a manager but football has moved on.

He's just what a club with a somewhat flakey financial history need as a manager.

Whore Jackie Looks like Marsch had agreed to take over at Southampton.

Collapsed due to Southampton only offering Marsch a contract to the end of the season. Not convinced Jesse was the right appointment, but this is the same Southampton that gave Jones a three-and-a-half year contract with even less PL experience than Marsch. :|

You have to ask what some of these idiot clubs expect of managers when they take over. Jones not only had to work with players he hadn’t brought to the club but also may have had a completely different ethos about the game and playing style. Would imagine that’d be hard enough for Guardiola or Klopp to get over, let alone someone stepping up from the division below. I think there should be a transfer window for managers - or maybe a limitation saying clubs can’t change managers more than once in a season. Would afford a bit more protection to managers and help reduce the stupid amount of times you get managers sacked within a couple of months, before they’ve had time to have real influence on the team and put their philosophies into place.

That said Jones was allowed to spend the best part of £50m in January (only brought in the one Luton player (James Bree) though) so you can’t say he wasn’t backed.

Jones was basically shooting himself through the foot as well. Making comments like "I haven't been able to put my stamp on the team" is basically admitting that he isn't doing his job correctly because that's exactly what you're brought in to do and you're there to get results and develop a team in the process.

Sacking someone after 14 games on a three and a half year deal hardly speaks well of the owners, but there was a lot of unrest in the fanbase. The only problem now is the lack of available managers that suit the calibre of the club and would actually be willing to go.

Between them and Leeds, it looks difficult to see who would take the job now just for potentially only the sake of a couple of months with potentially relegation on your CV and then getting binned off for a long-term thinking manager.

No point getting a long term thinking manager if you're willing to sack someone after 14 games.

There are almost no long term positions anymore.

Heard an interesting debate on the radio recently regarding manager contracts being limited to one year deals in the Football League. Not sure it would work in practice but in theory I can get on board with it.

Yeah, can't imagine many managers would go for that.

I do like the idea of the manager transfer window though.

Yeah I think it wouldn't be something popular with managers, they like the security blanket of the compensation if it goes tits up. It was more argued from the POV that the manager is guaranteed that full year regardless with the option to then renew. It would stop clubs firing after 10-15 games as is relatively commonplace.

Can't imagine how it would work in practice. There are some occasions when the manager has "lost the dressing room" - if the team have no confidence in them and relationships have broken down the players just aren't going to perform, no matter what the manager's contract says.

All that would actually happen would be clubs would continue paying the manager, who'd keep the title, but would be on some for of gardening leave, with someone new with a different job title coming in and doing the day-to-day management.

What makes me laugh is that according to the Leeds fans I know, they're such a massive club that the cream of talent would be falling over themselves to manage them.

Really hope they get dragged into the mire. Serves them right for charging supporters £40 to go to that absolute shit hole.

Ainsworth's to turn down now. Would be amazed if he doesn't accept. Close to his home, ex player and impressive new training ground opening this summer in Heston.

Really don't want him to go to QPR, really like Ainsworth and wouldn't want him tarnished by QPR.

Yeah it would be a good job for him there as well, has probably done all he can with Wycombe really, he's had them in the Championship and nearly kept them there. Someone like QPR is the next step up for him.

I think I am right in saying that we and Birmingham are the only clubs in the bottom 9 not to have changed our manager since the start of the season.
I know at one time the average stay for a Championship manager was around 11 months and I doubt that has changed much.

In the Premier League only David Moyes has stayed of the teams in the bottom 6.
