Statement from the Hungerford chairman- spoken to him at length when i have watched matches there.
The following is a statement from our Chairman Patrick Chambers...
It is with a heavy heart that I announce that myself and Nicky will be
stepping down at the end of this season. We have treasured our time as
Chairman and Commercial Manager at this wonderful club.
In recent months we have found it a struggle running a club at this level
as volunteers with no full time staff for support. It does feel like we have squeezed the lemon with regards average crowd, bar and food spend along with other fund raising events and taken the club as far as we can.
This is a decision we have really wrestled with and now its been made,
it’s better to give ourselves and the club the 4 months to the end of the
season to hopefully find others that will take up a role with the club. I will
of course be available to advise any future chairman and help with a
smooth transition.
An opportunity has come up for us to take over at Gloucester City from
next season and its one we feel we need to take and test ourselves to
see if we can achieve success at the highest level. I have always been a
person who prefers to regret the things I have done, rather than those I
haven't and we both think the time is right for us as a couple to move on.
Our love for Hungerford Town and our extended crusader family will
never change and rest assured we will work tirelessly to leave the club in
the best position possible. We have half the season yet to play and I will
work with the gaffer to try and preserve our place in the NLS.
A big thank you to everyone for their support throughout our 4 seasons
with the club. It’s been an emotional ride with many highs and fantastic
memories. We both hope we can create more great memories between
now and the end of the season and a great escape and cup run are on
the wish list.

That’s sad.
A small town team, with small town crowds, just too far away to be of much interest to the Reading and Swindon conurbations, they have done remarkably well over the past years to remain at the level that they are at.
This season it’s looking like their time ‘batting well above their average’ is up…..hopefully not.

How can the Lino see a double touch from where he’d be standing, there is certainly no stutter in the kicking motion. Plus the ref is stood a hell of a lot closer and didn’t see anything wrong. Where’s VAR when you need it?

.....almost impossible to discern from the YT clip above .....but 'Robins' pen @ Chesham was ruled out reportedly due to contact from the 'standing foot' ?
Surface did look rather 'slick' ..... but can't make that out from the angle of the footage.
Linesman must have decent vision to rule that but then again, that's what he should be focusing on for the kick - I suppose - so ought to get the benefit of doubt etc.

Decent game at Brackley in amongst some torrential rain
Brackley started badly and Chester took the lead after 10. But for most of the game Brackley were the better team. Scored a cracking goal (apparently) to equalise. Apparently, because I missed it whilst in the loo.
Then with time almost up Brackley were awarded a pretty soft (imo) penalty. Up steps Adam Rooney. Plenty of experience I thought. Should be ok. But he Kaned it, miles over. Could be very costly.

Not looking to clever for Aylesbury Vale Dynamos currently- shut since December 17th after a major burst pipe situation and now ground completely underwater because of flooding. They are talking about 50K to get it sorted.

Long Crendon FC have unveiled ambitious plans for a stadium( currently use Oxford City) to be built in the village. It would be complete with 4G pitch and would be used by the community.
