The draws for the FA Trophy & FA Vase 5th Round will take place on Monday from 3pm on talkSPORT 2.

Last season the FA Vase 5th Round was divided between north & south whereas the FA Trophy was an open national draw.

AthleticoSpizz Beaten by Maidstone,

....indeed 6-5 on pens - Stones led 2-0 but the National League leaders fought back and levelled in the last 5' or so.

Crowd was only 2405 probably shows what County thought of the competition - their league average is close to 8k?

tbh Maidstone would sooner cling on to STEP01 status than get a day out at Wembley but the further they go the more they may feel different?

Expect Barnet, Southend or Eastleigh may be installed as favourites now based on status ....but nice we still have a few 'featured' sides involved with Bracknell, Hungerford, Dorking, Maidenhead, Banbury if they get past Coalville and even the Sh!ts having their 'balls in bag' as it were. :?

Similar to Wrexham - made 11 changes for their match - not a priority - played the kids and reserves. Top non league teams treat it like Prem sides do the League cup etc - which is why you get less quality teams in the finals.

Bracknell have got a big tie there, always remember Altrincham as perennial giant killers in the FA Cup. Be interesting to see how Bracknell will fare against the second professional team they'll face this season.

Good opportunity for Maidenhead to progress though.

Any coverage on BT Sport for this round?

... lulz @ some of ' North' clubs - looks as if nearly all the 'Geordie Mafia' sides that used to dominate this competition thru the 10's, have fallen by the wayside or no longer compete - promoted to STEP04 most likely -( and about time!!)

Cracking tie in prospect involving Jersey Bulls too - both those sides they could visit, will pull in a big crowd.

One match that should beat the freezing conditions today thanks to the 3g pitch is the top of the table clash Ascot Utd v Reading City Combined counties Premier division North KO 7.45pm
1 Ascot P 17 points 46
2 Reading City P 16 points 42
If Flackwell Heath v Amersham in the B & B senior cup is postponed i will attend hoping it`s a better match than the return match played late last year.
A statement from the Ascot chairman yesterday- a club that seems to be going in the right direction
I hope everyone is glad to be back for another year of football at Ascot United.

Revenue and new roles
As a club we have grown significantly over the past couple of years, both on the pitch in terms of playing numbers and off the pitch as a business. Our revenue will be over £600k this year, compared to £300k in 2019. Whilst this is obviously great news as we have been able to continue upgrading our facilities, it has also required more and more management time to run the business side of the club. All of my board colleague are volunteers and continue to be fully committed to our club, but we feel now is the right time to create a new ‘General Manager’ role to enable us to continue growing as a club under the guidance of the board. I’m delighted to announce that Jo Gavin has accepted this role and will start with immediate effect. I’m sure the majority of you know Jo already and will give her all the support possible. Jo’s current role already covers many different areas of the club and so we expect the transition to be smooth. All football related responsibilities remain with Neil Richards as Director of Football.

We have also taken this opportunity to strengthen our board by appointing Mel Greaves as a Club Director. As an existing Ascot United parent and sponsor, Mel will bring loads of enthusiasm and experience to the board and will be especially looking at how we can grow our commercial partnerships building on the work we are already doing. Welcome Mel.

Fundraising initiatives
Despite our revenues continuing to grow, our costs are unfortunately outstripping that – we are very conscious of the general cost of living pressures that many of our members are facing but we as a club are not immune and our energy costs in particular are really hurting us. It’s been several years since we have had to increase subs for most players and I want to minimise any increases for next season. Therefore we are launching a series of fundraising initiatives that will hopefully help in the second half of the season. We will publish more details in the coming weeks but watch out for:

the return of the Buy-a-Brick scheme so you can see your name on the clubhouse for many years to come
The relaunch of Easyfundraising, something that doesn’t cost you anything but raises lots of money for the club
The launch of a “100 Club” giving members the opportunity to win money each and every month
The opportunity to sponsor some new benches for the front of the clubhouse, as the current ones are falling apart
Look out for more details and please get involved as much as you can.

Congratulations again to Jo and welcome aboard to Mel.

Thanks,
Simon Negus – Club Chairman

... just a warning for those thinking of Ascot v 'City' tonight - home club tweeting out caution notices about black ice on the approach roads!

...and nearly everywhere else locally tonight is OFF ... with Frozen pitches - a few Pitch Inspections still pending: (Farnborough/Ash/Bagshot/Flackwell)

- only one tweeting definitely 'ON' .... is Brackley v Kings Lynn in NAT-N
