Hendo Madness.

I hope, for their sake, that they’ve got a fair few deals with either a relegation salary change clause or the deals are short term

They don’t look to me like they are going to be clear of a relegation fight

Finished on 21 signings. How many players must they have on their books now?

Fair job on for Cooper to keep everyone happy and for them to gel as a team.

Going by Wiki Forest, as of 1 Sep, have 29 players with a further 9 out on loan.

I think Forest are getting quite a bit of unfair stick. It was incredible that they got promoted based on freebies and loans, with players out of contract. I understand their net transfers in is not that great compared to what went out which was near on 20 i think.

Just learned that the French FA brought in a rule where each club has 1 month to sign 1 player after the window 'slams shut'. Helps mop up players who's deals fell through elsewhere

A month is a bit much though. Surely 72 hours would suffice.

Guess it gives clubs a bit of time to assess the squad better and see where 1 extra body may help or if they need to cover an injury.

I like the idea.

That's arguably an advantage to bigger clubs though. Carvalho went off injured at half-time at Everton - proved to be only a dead leg, but were it a longer-term injury should Liverpool with all their riches and depth really be able to go and buy another midfielder?

I guess it all depends on how the rule is implemented. For the PL, and a lesser extent the EFL, the rule would simply be you can only go out and sign a new player if you have an available slot in your 25 man squad - so if Liverpool have 24 registered players then yes they can go and sign another midfielder but if they have 25 already registered then tough unless you sell first.

It would add an additional layer of strategy to transfers, you have to name your squad the day after the window closes - so do you go all out and name a full squad and accept your luck with injuries or do you name a 24 man squad on purpose to give you flexability to bring in one final player during the additional period.

It’s the knock on effect that would scupper the idea

Take the Carvalho issue and assume he’s out for the season.
Liverpool go to, say, West Ham and buy Jarrod Bowen
Do West Ham then get to replace … with, say, Wilfried Zaha from Palace
Palace then … and so on

Also, would it need to be like for like in terms of position

It’s a no from me

La Liga have a clause where you can sign someone after the window if you are a player down through injury.

Barca did that 3 seasons back with Martin Brathwaite. after January they want to the Spanish FA, got approval for an emergency signing, offered the buy out clause so Leganes had no choice but to accept and lose the player, but they had no right to sign a replacement. Leganes were relegated by 1 point

Diego Costa on his way to the UK, for a medical ahead of signing for Wolves as a free agent. Looking forward, I think, to some shithousery.

Well, that worked out well for Barcelona, the Grade A tossers.
