I mean, ever-present in the Chelsea midfield for three years, player of the year twice, key part of their CL win. One less good, injury-affected, season doesn't mean Mount isn't a class player. There will always be a premium on young English players moving between PL sides, I think he'll prove to be a very good signing for United.

He's a good player, just had a bad season. Needed a change of scenery and I think he will do really well at United.

Agree, although I do think £60m is on the high side, especially for someone in the last year of their contract.

But yeah, think he will turn out to be a good player for Utd.

Chelsea learning absolutely nothing and signing another player on an 8 year contract

Why are they doing this?

Guy can get injured for 7 years and pick up money

Thought the authorities were taking steps to prevent clubs doing that?

30th June is the last day of the season for football accounting so that rule only kicks in in just over an hours time and won't be backdated

Today being the final day of accounting for football clubs is why Chelsea have got rid of so many players this week. Azpilicueta and Loftus-Cheek another 2 to leave just today. They are trying to get Pulisic out tonight too.

Loafer BREAKING!!!!!!!

Jota to Saudi!!!!!!

Utterly baffling (well, not really, its all about the £10m a year). He was the one genuinely world class player in the SPL and at 24, could have gone to any European giant that took an interest.

He's 22 and only costing £25m, but 8 years? He'll be sold for a profit within 3.

Thought for a moment that Liverpool had dropped another ricket, didn't know there was a Jota in Scotland (let me guess at Celtic?)!

8) Yep, Celtic signed him from Benfica for €7.5m last year. They'll make a tidy profit, although Benfica have a 30% sell on and, tbf, would lose him to a stronger team at some point in the next 18 months anyway. They should stll clear £15m which is a king's ransom in the SPL.

Just baffled that he'd choose to sell out to Saudi Arabia at this stage in his career.

We fans see football as being all about the glory whereas for many players it is just a job; a well paid job but still a job.

Just flies in the face of some of the things Jota said after playing Real Madrid in the Champions League last season about wanting more experiences like that and playing in big games.

Agreed. Also I think people lose sight of the fact that for many footballers here they are already in a foreign country with a culture that is not theirs. Switching one to another isn't as drastic as us leaving our homeland for Saudi.

Sanguine Fabrizio says that a Liverpool deal to sign Dominik Szoboszlai from RP Leipzig is close. 22 year old Hungarian attacking midfielder, top 10 last season in Bundesliga for chances created.

Liverpool fans going mental over Dominik Szoboszlai saying it's the signing of the the season blah blah blah and he can driv ethem to challenge city.
Never heard of him.....but then the same people were saying Darwin was better than Haaland after the charity shield. Which shows their level of judgement.

Feel sorry for them in a way, they're promised one thing by their owners about how there'll be real investment in the team this summer but yet again they find themselves largely in the bargain basement while Arsenal, Utd, Madrid etc. are splashing cash yet again. Still you never know how any signings are going to pan out so you might as well be positive about things.

Well any football fan of sound judgement will recall the signings of Salah, Mane and Firmino for fractions of a 'large' transfer fee, and think about how well they did. You've not heard of him - a lot of football fans have, Hungary captain who ran the show when his side beat us twice last year.

We'll see - he comes with a decent reputation out of Bundesliga.

What is for certain is that with Thuram and/or Lavia still in the works, Liverpool have committed to the midfield rebuild that they needed.

It's not how much but how well you spend the money.
Look at big spenders Man Utd-Sancho £80 million or so, Maguire the most expensive English centre-back and then there is Arsenal spending £70 million on Pepe.
Man City on the other hand spent relatively little on Haaland and how much did the best midfielder in English football Rodri cost?

Transfers are very hit and miss and I am hoping that world cup winner McAllister (£35 million compared to Chelsea's world cup winner at £105 million) and other signings will mean that Liverpool will again provide the greatest challenge to City's dominance regardless of what is shelled out on transfers.

Unsurprisingly watch a lot of Bundesliga and Szoboszlai has been one of the standouts of the last couple of seasons - he is a quality player who should do very well in the PL.

Doesn't mean he will though but he is very good and should only get better.
