It was then that Sanguine realised how FFP is loaded in favour of the biggest clubs.

Winston Biscuit Italian media claim Newcastle have offered €95M for Kvaratskhelia

I would so love to see him tearing it up in the Prem!!

Aren't Newcastle close to breaking PL financial rules, sure I saw/heard something about it somewhere.

Yes, also read that they're looking/have to sell ASM so they can get Harvey Barnes.

That would be a huge upgrade imo. I know Barnes isn't exactly flashy but he is very consistent, something that certainly can't be said about ASM. I would much rather have a player who is a 7 or 8 out of 10 each week rather than a 10/10 once every 15 games.

Tough one, I know that ASM is a big, big fan favourite up there.

Can imagine things will be quick to turn sour if Barnes doesn't work out.

Thought Barnes was the stand out in what was a very poor Leicester side last season, he stood out more or less every time I saw them play live. Great work rate.

I am not sure Newcastle is the best place for him though. He would definitely fit in better with Aston Villa, think they need him more than Newcastle do.

Quick aside - the job Emery has done at Villa is absolutely outstanding.

and he has brought in Tielemans and Pau Torres so far which are both very decent signings.

I am also expecting Kamara to really step up this season too and become quite the player

There is something about Villa I'm not sure on. I just don't think they'll sustain where they have been at for the second half of last season, or really since Emery joined. Made some good signings on paper, just not too convinced it will come together.

Might be a bet for another European finish, but I don't think they'll finish any higher than 6th at best.

Romano says that Riyhad Mahrez will soon become the next player to move to the Saudi Pro League. As I said, this is becoming an actual thing now.

Liverpool seem to be getting screwed over by “Mr Liverpool” Gerrard

I don't think it's an awful thing. Henderson is class but increasingly has looked his age. Fabinho of old a bigger loss, but he has been poor for 18 months. If Liverpool land a Lavia or Pavard or one of the other rumoured targets, they'll be happy.

Off topic but Al Hilal played Celta Vigo last night. Before the match Cristiano Ronaldo proclaimed that European football was dying and that the PL was the only league in Europe that had any quality.

Celta promptly beat Al Hilal 5-0.

Doesn’t necessarily mean his statement was incorrect, though

For anyone struggling to keep up, https://www.sportingnews.com/us/amp/soc ... cfajrwbyi7

International stars on Saudi Pro League teams
Al Ittihad: Karim Benzema, N'Golo Kante, Romarinho, Jota
Al Nassr: Cristiano Ronaldo, Anderson Talisca, David Ospina, Marcelo Brozovic
Al Hilal: Ruben Neves, Moussa Marega, Kalidou Koulibaly, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic
Al Shabab: Ever Banega, Grzegorz Krychowiak
Al Fateh: Cristian Tello
Abha: Felipe Caicedo
Al Ahli: Edouard Mendy

Looks like our long term rivals Al Hilal are building a decent team.

So sad football has got to this place. Majority of those players should be playing top level Premier League/European football. Sad times.

Yep. In addition to the list, likely Mahrez and Saint-Maximin too.

Jordi Alba joining Messi at Inter Miami.

Disagree. Almost all of them are aging former good players getting one last big payday in. Milinkovic-Savic being the obvious exception. People like to point at Neves as an example of where the Saudi League is a threat, but its Ruben Neves, who has not moved up from Wolves in 5 years of PL football. He just isn't a top player.

Saint-Maximin could certainly move to a reasonable club, but he is very streaky and struggled to be a regular in the Newcastle team last season. No team pushing for the Champions League here in England would go for him. He was good when Newcastle were sh*t.

The Saudi League as it is doesn't worry me in the slightest. Its just the latest story the media can push in dramatic fashion to get clicks. Where I would be concerned is if UEFA/FIFA start trying to invite them into European competitions or create new ones with them and European teams (like the expansion of the club world cup).

Though I think the Saudi's trying to set up a superleague and inviting Europe's biggest clubs is more likely.
