I have been rather impressed with Chile and Alexis Sanchez in particular. I do think they are missing a few through suspension tonight though so will most probably lose. Probably won't be as comfortable as 3-0 though.

I've stuck a free £5 on Kaka to score first in a Brazil 2-1 win at 45/1.

Just for the shits and giggles. :?

I think the Brazilians might just be a little too spicy ( 8) ) for the chilean defence.

4-0

Should be game of the tournament next in the 1/4s. Brazil clear 5/2 favs now, hard to argue with that.

Chile the first CONMEBOL side among the five that got in to be sent home, and they only at the hands of a regional confederate

Another world class performance from the english officials tonight, and with England out, Webb and his team are edging towards officiating the final.

They were missing two key defenders and a central midfielder thru suspension, Chile (and with the Euros now set to go with the expanded format and an additional knockout round...)

Luis Fabiano was played onside for Brazil's second by a stray Chilean centre-half; I don't have the details on who did what, but it's at least worth asking if that would have been as likely to happen with all hands on deck

I'm on record hereabouts, and explitly so, about not grasping the love for Chile (Honduras in the opener, soft red on the half-hour against the Swiss --who got off the coach playing for a nil draw as it was-- etc) and my belief that any of the rest of the CONMEBOL sides in this are no worse than their equals right now

No questioning their will and effort, though --and indeed to the full-time whistle today-- and I'd say they were outclassed but never awed by the task that confronted them

Yeah, I was gonna say --they shipped over their Puritans; we sent back Hollywood cinema, rhythm & blues and the Big Mac in return

In a weird way, it turned out to be a perfectly fair deal for all concerned
