Warning: serious response to Kes thread alert.

Probably never.

The way they've gone out and spent unspeakable sums on dross is completely laughable and if they turn it round into a major trophy then fair play. Chelsea went out and bought some of the best players around and also some less brilliant players just so their rivals wouldn't sign them.

I watched City on ESPN last night vs New York Red Bulls. I can assure you they won't be winning anything this season.

Slightly peeved that they're set to follow the Chelsea model of signing up all English players in sight so that others can't have them and then ruining them.

Wayne Bridge & SWP (both), Scott Parker, Steve Sidwell etc

Wasn't that a Reserve Reserve side with no world cup paticipants playing?
For starters there would have been no Hart,Tourex2,SWP,De Jong,The new left-back,Barry,Tevez,Santa Cruz etc.,etc.
A bit early to be writing them off perhaps?

Toure did play, alongside Lescott in the second half. Adebayor looked his usual lazy self. Yes, the team had a scattering of youngsters who you won't see again until next pre-season, but enough strength was on show last night to beat a New York team that featured a couple of QPR rejects.

City have now got a host of defensive midfielders, so I see a lot of 0-0's in the forthcoming season. That's not enough to win your the Prem.

Can't see a lot of hating going on for City, a fair but of eye rolling but not much hating. They certainly haven't gone about it the Chelsea way.

It's only a matter of when rather than if they win the Prem. Just a case of how much they spend for it to happen. Currently 300 million I reckon another 200 million should do it not including agents fees and and abscene wages.

Eh?

The only difference is their oil-soaked sugar daddy was from Siberia rather than the desert and Citeh seem to be adding at least one digit to the telephone numbers Chelsea were bandying about a few seasons back.

Otherwise, cut from the same cloth.

Mancini is a different animal compared to Mourinho. Chelsea only became despised after JM arrived. his predecessor, Ranieri, was widely liked and respected.

Its all about the attitude. Chelsea adopted this air of superiority and arrogance that was quickly taken up by their fans. Granted a lot of it came from the manager but also some of the players (a certain ex-England captain springs to mind) had a swagger that made them really dislikable.

Citeh, so far, don't have that same arrogance and I doubt they will under Mancini. Also, their fans seem to be happy to be along for the ride rather than thinking they had a god given right to be competing for honours.

If that changes and if the likes of de Jong, Vieira, etc revert to type and play as dirty pcunters then it might change my mind but they're a long way from Chelsea

I'll probably wait until their supporters send death threats to Reading players until I take a massive dislike to them.

When their manager, players and fans self-awareness lose contact with their self awareness.

/still bitter about some FA Cup defeat in the mid-90s. No, really. I am.
