Wild speculation: Gary Megson

by specialjon » 30 Dec 2009 09:04

The bolton faithful are unhappy with Megson, if their board sack him we should be straight in there, top quality manager at this level..

Either (a) You're fishing and I just bit;

or (b) I can see why you're called 'Special'.

If we want a manager to keep us up, he's the man.

I suspect Windsor & Eton's gate might start swelling nicely in 2010 if Madejski were to give him the job though.

Unlike Irvine, I think Megson would be a pretty decent shout to turn things around.

Never quite going to be top draw, but he's pretty effective at organising teams and I think he picks up good players without spending massive amounts of money.

Also would quite like Megson in if we could!
Both him and Irvine could do the job, imo.

There are plenty worse options out there.

I would be happy if Megosn was appointed, but doubt he would come here. Afterall, he would expect decent money to spend on players and a decent pay packet as well. These 2 crucial elements will rule him out as the club will no doubt take the cheap option. Anyway, I think the club have already decided to give it it Brian until the end of the season.

Megson will probably end up at a Championship side, but a decent one with ambition.

I would have him tomorow Bolton fans are total twats. What more do they want? Just staying in that league is an achievment for them. One Bolton fan was on SSN saying that Coppell would show a lack of ambition by the there board? Just shows how much they know.

Can't be arsed to check, but I believe Megson's total managerial record in all games pans out at around:-

wins 30%, draws 30%, loses 30%, of games, with the odd 10% split randomly amongst the rest! I don't know how this stacks up against other prospects, but it doesn't sound like progress to me!

(This is from a failing memory of a newspaper article I read around the time he joined BW's)

Wednesday or Preston would both be a better fit for him.
