SPECULATION: Vinnie Jones as next boss

by Top Flight » 22 Jan 2010 13:41

After watching Vinnie Jones impressive performance on Celebrity Big Brother where everyone in the house recognises him as 'The Boss' or the 'Daddy', I think it is high time that Reading FC offer him his first managerial appointment in English football as long as he is prepared to give up his hollywood career.

Vincent Jones has handled himself in the BB house with impeccable quality. He seems to be very fair and open. He is not political. He looks like he has the qualities to be a damn good football manager.

Based on his big brother performance we got to give Vinnie Jones the job.

Vinny,

Would you rather live in Los Angeles or in Reading?
Would you rather earn $1m in Hollywood or £500k in Berkshire?

He's not interested in coming back into football

Who is Strap?

But seriously Vinny is the Man!!!!! He has the respect of everyone in the BB House. They are all scared of him. Vinnie has a presence about him. He has authority. It comes naturally for Vinnie. I can't see Shaun Cummings or Jay Tabb messing with Vinnie Jones. He would get all our boys performing. He wouldn't take any excuses. The Crazy Gang Wimbledon side were always playing at 100%.

Vinnies attitude, effort and commitment are top drawer. He would make a great football manager. Even Madejski would be scared of him and would give him any transfer funds that he would require.

Back in 1998, on the Royal Mail email list, he would append to the end of his emails:

"Only Vinny can save us!"

Martin Allen already tried this approach, but failed

LOL @ being scared of Vinnie Jones! Even I've managed to murk him.

Why would we give someone a job here as a manager when he has zero experience and no coaching badges, quite apart from the fact that he'd not come back here and give up his Hollywood career until he's much older.

Picking up in rl post I would say that he was a I timidating footballer that's for sure. We first crossed paths in the tunnel at dean court when I was officiating Bournemouth vs Wimbledon! Massive neck, scary eyes, cold stare, and winding up the opposition in the tunnel certainly sets the trend for any game he was playing in. Thankfully never peeved him off to much and cos of location did not officiate him to much.

I know this is a semi-wind-up, but someone will believe this thread and take it seriously. Vinnie doesn't even follow football that much and doesn't "support" a team - he was interested in Reading whilst Wally was hear, as he is his mate, but that's about it.

I think McD should be given the job until the end of the season and if he can keep us up, he should get a 3 year deal in the Summer.

RL...I have plenty of respect for your views on Reading FC....but am surprised you think McD should get the job until the end of the season. If we lose our next three or four League games and fall say 7/8 points away from safety do you think he should stay? I'm not convinced. I do think he has to pick up some decent League results starting on Tuesday where a point will do......I just think relegation would be a massive step down.

I would be very very surprised if we lost our next three or four games. We're going to win one at least in that period.

I expect us to win three of the next four, or even I will be fearing the great drop!
