He's a left back - we could do with another of those.......

Well Harte and Armstrong won't be around for ever and Williams has disappointed so far - so it could be a longer term succession plan.

Very much an Armstrong type left back. Extremely solid and dependable without being flash.

I like flash. Shorey and Harte are flash!

Hard to tell about this one, but Harte, Williams, Kelly, play there and Cummings can too?

And Armstrong, don't forget him, though basically all you're doing is regurgitating what people have said already in this thread.

At the risk of regurgatating I would have thought that we would only sign him if we feel he is potentially too good a player to miss out on.

Having said that I would have thought there is still a question mark in the Club's eyes about the long term future of Stretch, despite his remarkable recovery. I suppose there must also be a chance that Williams would want to move on in January if he is still frozen out of the first team picture.

At 23 I'd imagine that he'd be looking for first team football. It says he's a full back but then so were Keith Fahey and Seamus Coleman when they came over here and they both play midfield. Mind you, we're hardly short on wingers.

Williams is arguably 4th choice LB now (and I'm not counting Tabb or Kelly there) so I can't see a long term future for him (but I said the same of Cummings) and Harte and Stretch aren't likely to be regular starters for too long either. If he's any good then it may be a case of snapping him up on the cheap whilst we can

Not particularly relevant but a big LOL to Halford's Wikki page which has him down for playing 1 game for Braintree Town in 2003 and scoring 6 goals!

hmm. I can only see us going for him if we're planning on moving on Kelly and Williams. Cummings is cover for RB mainly and can also do a job LB. Stretch will just slot in anywhere when we need him and Harte surely won't last much longer than another season maybe. Kelly is too similar to Cummings and has not done as well as cummings for us, as well as being injury prone! Williams won't want to be frozen out for too much longer either.

Coleman has played right back every time I've seen him. When has he played midfield? I don't doubt you but I'm just interested as I think he's a real talent. It wouldn't surprise me to see him in a more advanced position. He has reminded me ofa right footed gareth bale in the making at times!

I think Coleman has been playing in midfield for Everton quite a bit this season. He certainly was in the recent Merseyside derby for starters.
