Vela anyone?

We are probably not big enough, but wouldn't it be nice?

Vela loan must meet Wenger’s criteria

By Richard Clarke

Carlos Vela will only go on loan to a top-level club who can guarantee him playing time, according to Arsène Wenger.

On New Year’s Eve, the Arsenal manager confirmed that the Mexican striker would be allowed to make a temporary transfer in January to maintain his sharpness. Bolton manager Owen Coyle has already shown an interest in taking him to the Reebok Stadium and certainly Jack Wilshere benefitted from a similar spell with the Lancashire side last season.

But, at Tuesday’s press conference, Wenger spelt out the specific conditions that have to be met for Vela to move.

“I want Carlos to play at the top, top level and the club who gives me the biggest guarantee to play will have the chance to sign him,” said the Arsenal manager.

“I would expect it to happen in early January because Carlos is keen to play. He has been patient and worked very hard – he has matured a lot and changed a lot in a positive way.

“Bolton is one of the clubs that has shown an interest but we have many clubs that have shown interest and I am not surprised.

“He is a fantastic talent. I do not want to lose him and I want him now to get experience.”

He is jolly good Vela, but I don't think the Championship is the 'top level' required.

Personally I think he would do well to start every game for a club like Forest, Reading, or Swansea, and get 20 x 90 minutes (or so) under his belt.

Okay, let us know when you've convinced Wenger then.
