"A Couple of Things We're working on..."

by Snowball » 08 Jan 2011 23:45

Mcdermot seemed to indicate there was another surprise after Bradley,
and from his tone, he didn't mean Elwood. He also said "No outgoings"

(PS I hope and pray getting Bradley Wright-Phillips at a bargain price doesn't make anyone consider letting Shane go for the 3-4M bid that's likely this month)

But if there is a third player, is that a hot left-back or another midfielder, OR "one for the future"?

Anyone?

Well Ian Harte is clearly the best thing since sliced bread, we dont concede many goals with him so its not a "hot left back".

Ryan Harley from Exeter. Goalscoring midfielder, we dont have that luxury at the moment.

McDermott confirmed the club are trying to to land ex-Manchester City and Southampton forward Wright-Phillips immediately after his side's FA Cup third round victory over Premier League West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

And he also revealed that Royals are attempting to bring in a second player in January.

“We've got a couple of things going on at the moment,” he said. “We're trying to buy Bradley Wright-Phillips, that's a possibility, and there's something else going on as well. Watch this space.”

Leigertwood? Wouldn't he just say that though?

He did recently. He said he wants to keep him if we can.

His last "big surprise" was Lee Hendie on a trial so I wouldn't get too excited..

Focher understands that Reading FC are looking to sign Martin Woolford from Scunny.

Woolford? Rumour has it the Florists are after him.....

And Scunny fans say of him

"To sum him up best I would call him a "big game player". He has a good habit of showing up in very important games. In general though he is very hit and miss. On his day he can be dangerous but more often than not he goes missing in games. 1 very good attribute would be his aerial ability."

and

"Woolford is one of the many very good young players we have had at this club. Managers seem unable to grasp the fact that he is one of the best runners with the ball we have had at the club for ages! Play him up front or behind 2 strikers and the opposing defences would be in turmoil over how many freekicks and potential penalties he could win.

Him and Hayes upfront would have been ideal and more fool us if we sell him in Jan. The only player capable of turning a game for us. Agreed he does go 'flat' in games but i would suggest its the lack of nouse shown by people playing him all wrong!!!!"

He's 24 and out of contract in the summer - are we trying to become a Scunthorpe United 2nd XI?

I doubt Mikele would have been allowed to play on Saturday if there wasn't something going on in the back ground.
