Rumour: Signing Nobody

Gary Gardener moved on loan until Jan 1st from Villa to Brighton this week. Surely he is exactly the type of player we could do with until Karacan, Williams and Guthrie are back?

Ryan Shotton moved from Stoke to Derby too.

Assuming we can afford to bring anyone else in, and assuming the Dean Hammond deal isn't dead, which commits another wage. I don't believe things are all that rosey behind the scenes yet.

I would be shocked if we don't get any kind of left back.

With injuries I understand the need for center midfielders however once they all return I see no problem in that area - especially with norwood and kuhl now on top of guthrie williams karacan etc. And Adkins only ever insists on playing two of these at any one time.

Our only form of left back is a right back who's never cemented a place in the team and a young left back who played against oman last year and wasnt every good at all. Its worrying that adkins has left it this long. I really hope he has a masterplan that no one has yet worked out.

I do agree that its been frustrating for him with the takeover but as soon as the takeover completed we had three new signings in cox, mackie and Ferdinand as if he had scouted a lined them up for when it was done.

Just because he couldnt sign anyone doesnt mean he couldnt look at what was out there for when he could, like he seemed to do with the others and potentially hammond.

Royals’ boss has already brought in four players during the past month with Simon Cox, Jamie Mackie, Anton Ferdinand and Oliver Norwood all arriving.

But he insists he is not done there and will be adding more new faces to his injury-ravaged squad during the final days of the summer window.

He said: “We will be active until the close of play because we’ve got aspirations to keep strengthening.

Good on him if true - bet he is sick as a parrot - he probably had more transfer resource at Scunny

Our squad is pathetic right now. Even if it's 6 month loan deals or whatever we need bodies quickly. A striker, and left back should be the top priorities.

I read that Adkins said we are going to be very active in the market for the last 2 days. We certainly need to spend some of the (around £8m) we got from selling Morrison and McCarthy, on a proven striker with pace and a versatile creative midfield player.

Massively disagree, sent out Drenthe on loan, so at worst we only have to deal with him for half a season before his contract expires, useful squad players in Mackie and Cox, great addition of Norwood considering the injury crisis with our midfielders and then to top it off, adding a proven goal scorer in Murray.
