Doesn't exactly scream upgrade on Wareham, Campbell, or even Bodin.

27, not sure on position, wikipedia lists him as a forward, some as an attacking midfielder, looks like he primarily plays left wing.

Wycombe supporter says he's a decent striker, but often does too much with the ball and wastes opportunities. Brought in by the previous WW manager, hardly got a look in until the second half of the season but then did well; but was released.

Beryl Lubala previously failed at Birmingham, Blackpool, Crawley, Burton and Wycombe.

Is Congolese so if he becomes good he might disappear for the ANC every so often.

Made 4 Championship appearances at Brum without scoring. Scored 32 times in a total of 167 appearances (24 in 132 league appearances) across all competitions for all his clubs (that’s approx 1 goal in every 5 games, so is about Reading standard for a striker). Struck 4 times for Wycombe in 26 games last season. Was released early from his contract in May.

Lastly, he was accused and found not guilty of raping an 18 year old girl in 2022.

The “often does too much on the ball’ sounds like he could be another WiFi.

However I’m sure Brian, Joe and Noel know what they’re doing and Joe and Rob would know the player and therefore know “how he works” etc. and sometimes what looks like what will be obvious an failure works out.

Think I’d rather have Beryl Reid.

He's not an out and out striker though is he - according to Transfermarkt and a couple of other sources, they have him down as a LW who occasionally plays out on the right - so a Campbell replacement (if true).

The same guy who gave it the big one to the away end after scoring against us last season. Big no from me.

Why would that put you off a player? Did you have an issue with Smith winding up Oxford fans when scoring?

There was also a bizarre Wycombe Twitter account named after him who hated/trolled Reading but strangely disappeared after they failed to beat us.

Any chance of the new regime signing someone who isn't already known to them/the brother of the manager/the goalkeeping coach?

A couple of Wycombe fans have said he's definitely talented but infuriating with his decisions and quite erratic. Seems like you just need the right team for him to settle down in and you can unlock a quality L1 player. Of course it may not come off.

If you don’t have much money to spend then a club will tend to gravitate towards players that its staff know well so there’s more chance of some success with any signings.
