Brogue Bid accepted from Wrexham this morning

They like signing players from us. Hopefully we'll fleece them

1.8 mill

£3.8m for Smith & Knibbs is decent in anyone's books given their contract positions.

After todays performance we'll need to spend every bit of that money as our attack has been dismal all preseason with very little attacking intent or even shots on goal!!

It's Charlton he's going to.

Good luck to him. Probably be seeing him play against us in a seasons time.

£1.8m is certainly an offer we can’t refuse.

Sounds like the only thing that’s not been decided is where he is going…

1.8 is excellent money if that’s what we’re getting. Good luck to him, great guy and very good player

Good luck to him. The money will certainly come in use with our shoestring budget.

Need an attacking focus, someone with a bit of experience who knows where the goal is and can make something happen. All we’ve got are countless AMs and a youngster who’s just been handed a map. Above all else we need pace nearly everywhere in the team.

This season is really going to make or break Hunt as well, he needs to show he’s got what it takes too!

Would be great business. Unbelievably good in fact

Other sources reporting £1.8m, which is still good business. Maybe both figures are kind of true due to add ons.

Thinking about the squad and in train rumours, it's not unrealistic to suggest this money could cover the signings of Bowler, Doyle and Cole and still have a fair wedge left to cover wages. No brainer when you look at it that way.

Problem is Noel keeps saying there are players who are delaying signing as they expect a better deal (from us or elsewhere) Now the Knibbs fee has been bandied about everyone knows how much money we have to spend. We also know Couhig isn't going to splash the cash so doubt we'll get those targets

It may be alternatives to the 3 mentioned, but I guess the point is we can replace Knibbs with 3 and help cover squad wages, which makes sense.

I agree with being hard-line in our negotiations, so if Bowler isn't going to sign let's look elsewhere.

Knibbs pulled himself out of the squad for yesterday’s game due to his pending move to Charlton.

https://rdg.today/reading-fc-star-knibb ... is-agreed/

Charlton also signing Charlie Kelman for £5m (incl. add ons).

Someone needs to change this thread title when moving it after all is confrimed.

If any player I wanted to sign was waiting for a better offer, I would say "There's the door, close it behind behind you, please". I would rather have a player who wanted to play for the club, not someone who signed just because he didn't get a better offer.

Yeah, that's more than I think we could have optimistically expected.

£2m into the void and £500k to help get some of our better targets over the line, especially a goalscorer, and that's very good.

Our targets knowing we have money incoming will probably play tougher on wages now.

£5m for Kelman is insane money. No wonder QPR are selling him.

Yep, could have given him a shot after a great season in L1 but cashing in while his stock is high makes absolute sense.
