Upper West Ginger Last night when Federic ran out to warm up for the second half he got a huge round of applause from the Kop. In fact, he was probably the only recipiemt of such adulation from the Kop all night, as none of the Liverpool players deserved any!

The KOP applause every goal keeper - if the keeper dosn't clap back then they get booed!

So no you know! - so don't read too much into it!

I was told this, whilst I was sat in the kop end, for the game. I've sat in the away end supporting the royals on a number of occasions (remember sitting in the away end at elm park for WBA and Oldham when I was young, as my dad had mates who were the other teams fans) and i've sat in swindon home end watching the mighty royals - we won the tickets on GWR. And now I've sat in the KOP - was really oxf*rd weird. Oh i've never sat in the away stand at the mad stad - to clear that up.

Cant see Fed going now as according to todays Bristol Evening Post Andersen now loaned to Rovers until May:-
Mikkel Andersen has spoken of his delight at the prospect of spending the rest of the season with Bristol Rovers.
The Danish goalkeeper's future with the Pirates finally looks to be secure after weeks of uncertainty.
His parent club Reading – who have now confirmed Brian McDermott as their permanent boss – have agreed to let the 21-year-old remain at the Memorial Stadium until May.
The only possible spanner in the works could come if the Royals suffer an injury to first-choice goalkeeper Adam Federici in tomorrow's home clash against Barnsley.
"We have agreed in principle that he will stay on loan until the end of the season," said Rovers boss Paul Trollope.
"So unless there is any change of circumstances at Reading's end over the weekend, that should be completed on Monday. It will be a big boost for us.
"Mikkel is very, very keen to stay and we feel the same way."
Andersen has been in fine form for the Pirates, playing a major part in keeping two clean sheets in a row ahead of tomorrow's home clash with Wycombe.
"I'm delighted because I've said since I came here that I wanted to stay," said Andersen.
"I went back to Reading on Monday and had a good chat with them and now I'm looking forward to the rest of the season.
"This is the first season that I've played over 20 games. Rovers have done me the world of good.
"I'm really enjoying being here – the fans have been great, there's a good manager here and I like being around the rest of lads."
Director of football Lennie Lawrence rates securing the future of Andersen and midfielder Chris Lines – who recently signed a new three-and-a- half year deal – as major coups for the club.

Hmm, so it won't throw a spanner in the works if Fed got injured in any game AFTER the Barnsley game then? If Fed got injured/suspended and we put in Hamer, we have no "sub" goalkeeper for the rest of the season - is that correct?

As I said, this was only ever a public threat to David Martin.

Goalkeepers are a specialised breed and can be acquired on loan without any trouble. Go back to 1996/97 ish when we had about 27 of the buggers. Eric Nixon? Chris Woods? Tommy Wright?

There may still be the option of recalling either Anderson or McCarthy, I'm not sure what the rules are.

The 'only issue' bit being about tieing up the deal up now I presume, and not being able to keep him to the end of the season.

Jime Leighton on loan back then was unbelievably good.

Eric Nixon was Leeds away in the League Cup. 3,500 Reading fans amde the trip to Elland Road on a Wednesday! His one and only game in a 2-1 defeat. Leeds fans were told by the police to avoid going into the Peacock across the road from the ground as it was full of Reading fans. The first time in over 10 years that Leeds were locked out of their own pub!

Is this another example of shoddy journalism?

No great loss if he goes. In McCarthy andNderssen we have 2 gems.

If yesterday's showing is anything to go on then Federici can go and we can go laughing all the way to the bank

Brad Jones having a medical at Liverpool. Maybe Boro can make a cheeky bid for Fed now.
