Royal Lady With respect, if we worried about getting the £200k so we could cover the pay of some support staff - we could have sold Lita for over a million instead.

tried but nobody wanted him

Sheffield United wanted him, albeit I don't think it was for a million quid. We accepted the offer, Leroy turned it down.

No, we didn't.

We asked him if he wanted to go and then turned it down.

Southbank Old Boy
CMRoyal Amazed that Prem clubs are looking at him before he's even proven himself in the Championship. He could just be a flat track bully like Bobby Zamora.

Although Zamora has been a decent enough squad player at the level he's managed to get to

LOL, a striker with one goal to his name this season!!!!! are you kidding me????

Looks like we will have competition!!

From the BBC "Derby manager Nigel Clough is set to join West Brom, QPR and Leicester in the race to sign £1.5m-rated Swindon striker Simon Cox. (Daily Star)"

His value has dropped by 25% in a couple of weeks.

Thanks for that. He's come on leaps and bounds and grown up a lot too. Wishful thinking to think we might get him back though.

Not all players who come up from div one score goals in the Championship Fryatt struggled at this level and Tyson has not scored as many. If Bas Savage can get to double figures it does make you wonder about the qaulity of div one defences!

Cox has looked bright in his cameos at a higher level though. Savage just looked comedy.

I know I am right. Leroy said no, therefore Reading turned it down. There's no "accepting the offer" in that scenario.

Fairy nuff, to the pedant (and I consider myself one) we didn't "accept the offer". But merely by offering him the option, we tacitly accepted it. What do you think we would have done had he said "yes"? Gone, "nur nur nur nur nur, hard luck Leroy we weren't going to accept it anyway"?.

No, we didn't "tactitly accepted it". If Leroy had said yes, we would of course have accepted it. But as he said no, we turned it down. It's not that difficult.

tacit - adjective : 1. understood without being openly expressed; implied: tacit approval.
2. silent; saying nothing: a tacit partner.
3. unvoiced or unspoken: a tacit prayer.

 back at ya with bells on.

Sheffield United (and you) assuming that Reading had accepted the offer is not the same as Reading actually accepting the offer.

I didn't assume Reading had accepted the offer. I just see them putting the offer to Leroy as a tacit admittance that they are happy with (ie 'accept') the offer. The mistake Sheffield United made was in assuming that Leroy would also accept it. He didn't, so Reading had to formally reject it (having 'accepted' it in principle, ie tacitly).

There you go again, making assumptions. How could you possibly know that they were happy with the offer?

I don't know, which is why I assumed.

Is this one of those internet arguments where the two protaganists disappear up their own arseholes in an attempt to win a specious argument? Out of here!

Give up he's kind of right in the world of pedantic wordplay, whilst being totally wrong in the real world.

What you assume might not be what happens in the real world. Remember:

Championship Manager =/= Real World.

Who said anything about Championship Manager - You.

I'm not making assumptions, I making perfectly obvious logical observations.
