Barry the bird boggler In the long run no one cares who manages the club as long as the team wins games and we all feel like we're getting somewhere,

At the moment Brain is therefore just as good as anyone else in the business.

Brian hasn't won a game yet and tbh that doesn't make me feel like we're getting anywhere other than league 1.

It wont come as any surprise if he gets the job, for the egomonster he will, contrary to what McDermott said, be a very cheap option and we all know what he thinks of spending money on the footballing side of the club. No disrespect to McDermott but to qoute the great man " this shows the the true ambition of the club" !! .................................

ROKERITE I've never known a team's results improve when a caretaker manager is given some degree of permanency; there've been umpteen examples of sides going on great runs while the boss is temporary, only to go to pieces once they know he's been given the job longer term.

I believe it's happened it's happenend twice at Reading - Quinn and Gooding were caretakers then took us to Wembley after they got the job full time and Alan Pardew also had it short term and after taking it full time took us to promotion and playoffs.
Newcastle currently have a manager who was in temporary charge then got the job full time and seems to have made a decent job of it.

I have no doubt there are plenty of other examples !

Two cheap odd job boys. If McD was any good why has he not gone and achieved anything in the last 10 years. Good coaches get snatched. H ehas been left to squander at RFC.

Cheap Cheap Cheap Cheapppppppp

Going down with the Madman. Tight arsed git.

This will be Charlton all over again when they appointed a scout. He was soon sackedddddd.

Seeing as the OS is running a story where Mcdermott says he is looking for a couple of experienced players to add to his squad from the loan market then i expect him to be in charge for a while yet.

I strongly suspect that Madeski is waiting for McDermoot to win a game and than appointing him until end of season.

This mirros exactly the pardew appointment when he wasnt formally put in charge but was making transfer moves - the problem was that we didnt win many in his first 14 games!

I think it's pretty much nailed on he will be. He's the one making the transfer moves. If they wanted a new guy in he would have come in before the transfer window and identified his own targets.

I spoke to Kevin Dillon after the Liverpool game as he was in the hotel, and he pretty much said that McDermott has the job

I think it's safe to say RFC aren't looking for anyone else in the manager's role and McDermott will, almost certainly, be in the role at least until end of season.

Looks like Sean Odriscoll is going to get Burnley role - so another one off the list -

Reading FC have just released a statement saying that given the recent appointments by other clubs of potential targets, they want to make it offically known that the following are now their revised shortlist for the next Reading manager ;

Lord Lucan
Elvis Presley
Osama Bin Laden
Jesus Christ
Brian McDermott

and they hope to be holding interviews in the coming weeks, with the hope that they can announce a new manager in the very near future! :)

No doubt SJM and co have told BMc and the playersthat he has the job until the rest of the season but sworn them to secrecy. If The Board have not done this then they are a bigger bunch of lowlife scum than I previously thought. We are struggling. The previous manager got rid of very quickly without an obvious external successor lined up. If we were going to have a new manager something would have been said by now and the rumour mill would have been working overtime.

What I fail to understand is why be so devious about it? Why keep the appointment a secret from those that REALLY matter. IE the supporters. Another example of shoddyness from the Mad Stad.

Of course, I could be wrong...
