Ferris I'd say out of all our strikers, Bignall is probably the closest to Heskey, certainly not Church.

Ian Royal Anyone much bigger than those two and I'd be worried. But Church seems sensible and hopefully wil realise he needs another season as first choice at this level. We'd be mad to let Mills go though.

We should be building a promotion side around him, not letting him go and leaving us with the deadly duo of Ivar and Pearce. Talk about sluggish.

Agree. Keep Mills. I forgot about him.

As things stand, like it or not, both those clubs are higher up the football food chain than we are.

Church might "seem sensible", but I'm afraid that as ever, money talks in football.
As an example, my son has known Coxy since primary school age. They were talking on facebook yesterday, and my boy was admiring the photos of Simon's new car. Aston Martin. Even for a striker who is not a shoe in first choice, the wages are there to be got.
The players fancy a big pay rise, so you can see how it can happen.

From the RFC perspective, we are sitting on a ticking bomb with our reliance on loan players.
i wouldn't be at all surprised to see Griffin, given his performances, wind up at a newly promoted Prem club next season. At 31, you could offer him a shortish contract on decent money, so if they come back down, it limits the buying club's exposure.
AK47 is just too expensive for us. I can't afford to fill up the petrol tank on a Bentley Continental.
Bertrand will be playing in the Prem. Maybe not for Chelsea, but if Hunty can get a regular game.........

So, when these three players inevitably move on, Houston, we have a problem.
I honestly think that some horse trading will have to be done.
The names mentioned that we should "get rid of" are not going to generate much of a transfer kitty, so maybe RFC are going to make a judgement call on our more saleable assets.
Ian is right. Got help us if we were left with Pearce and Ingi.

It's strange though how clubs like Blackpool, Doncaster, Barnsley, who all have virtually no money always seem to end up with pretty decent players - maybe our scouting network is just rubbish?

If the money in allows us to shrewdly improve the overall squad so we can challenge towards the top end of the championship next season then bring it on.

Assuming we manage to stay up this time round of course....

Are you always so desperate to pick an argument with people that you can't see when it's blindingly obvious that someone's taking the piss?

I think that you may just find that the cost of living in Blackpool, Doncaster and Barnsley is just that little bit lower than berkshire and the surrounding environs. HTH

No. Sorry, I don't recall enough about your posting to have been able to tell whether you really are stupid enough to have thought that. Plenty on HNA? would be.

Church is a runner, but he is not quick. He is physical but small is an understatement! Is 5 ft 11 small Ferris?

Sell Rasiak, Marek and Cummings. Rasiak and Marek are top earners and Cummings not far off. A large chunk of wages going on players who with the exception of Rasiak are no way near the team and even Rasiak is well down the order and is not going to get any better and hopefully with Hunt returns to previous levels Rasiak won't get a look in.

We'll be lucky to get both Griffin and Kish, they are both pretty essential if we are going to continue moving forward.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Kelly, Davies and Henry go to raise some funds as well.

No way we can afford to let Kelly & Cummings go. That would leave us with just one fullback on the books. Who is more likely to retire than play a season's worth of football.

Rasiak would also be a mistake to lose IMO. Church and Long are doing ok at the moment, and Hunt is still to come back... but Rasiak offers something totally different.

I'd be upset to see Davies go and a bit sad if Henry does, but I think it's time Marek left for certain.

The only one of our loanees I can really see us keeping is Griffin. And that's very doubtful. With Ivar & Gunnarsson quite likely to go and Cisse needing to be offloaded IMO. That's a lot to replace already.

Wycombe Royal Bertrand in the Premiership. That would be funny to watch........

Funnier than Liam Rosenior?!

I personally think Bertrand could play for a lower half Prem side without too much of a stretch of imagination. He certainly won't be playing for Chelsea though!
