LoyalRoyalFan Local press in Carlisle reporting that Harte is in talks with us.

We don't even need a left back.

That's a joke right?

6' 4" isn't bad.

Would provide decent CB cover.

5 foot 7 I think you will find. We are obviously worried about Williams if this is true. Looks like he was a mistake.

the guy is an absolute donkey and the slowest player I have ever seen, he will fit right in............he is the reason kilbane has 100 caps for Ireland as he makes the carthorse that is Kilbane look like a solid player by comparison....he went to levante a few years back and when he came back he found it hard to get a club, he was even offered trials by Irish premier and first division teams a while back and they all turned him down, they couldn't believe such a one-dimensional player was asking for big wages, also many of these clubs said he wasn't better than what they already had....i know guys who play at league of ireland level and I am as good as some of them so at least this transfer finally allows me to say unequivocally and without submitting to charges of whim, bluster and hyperbole (usually I'm guilty of these but not in this case) that I AM AS GOOD AS A PLAYER IN THE CURRENT READING SQUAD AND DEFINITELY FASTER THAN A FEW.....ony thing he has going for him is a good left-peg delivery at setpiece time....IN EVERY OTHER DEPARTMENT especially in terms of pace, distribution and touch is he absolutely substandard, that's just my opinion of course, I wish Ian well and hope he proves me wrong as Andy Griffin did to an extent but to say I am underwhelmed by this signing is not just an understatement, it's a far-beneath-and-beyond-the-concept-of-under-statement

Or we're worried about Armstrong ever getting back to fitness...

The 6'4" is the bloke they've bought in to replace him by the way.

Not seen much of Harte since he came back to England, but scoring that many goals from fullback show's the ability he has. He might even give us the option of playing McAnuff in the hole left by Sigurdsson and Harte on the left of midfield (not that I really expect to see that happen).

If we are intending to sign him - we can only hope it is a one year deal in case you are right.

hoping not to be repeating anything anyone's already said (i know how merciful you chaps are to repetition) but the bbc deadline day gossip column has just picked up on this, adding further credence. personally i laughed into my cornflakes when i first heard it this morning but, for some reason, im really not surprised....

16 goals playing at left back in League 1 last season has me thinking that this COULD be an amazing bit of business.

Maguire 33 years old today (?), 62 caps for ROI, last one in 2007.

Was what Radio Berks said. That's all, no mention of the deal itself.

Yes please. Good competition for Williams, experienced head, free-kick and penalty taker. Can't cost much either.

I really hope this one is a wind up. This bloke was a good player 8 - 10 years ago but has been a donkey for at least the last 5.
If it is true it could mean that we are worried about Armstrong and possibly even Ingimarsson as Harte (used to) cover left back or left-centre.
Surely we can now afford someone better than this.

Not when we need at least 3 players. I bet you also criticised the signing of Chris Makin as well.

Does Chris armstrong returning from injury not have any second thoughts on this rumour?
