What we will definately need is a new right back; I can't see Griffin staying here. Another loanee perhaps??

Keeper - maybe Speroni from Palace (assuming Hull and Burnley get relegated and Myhill/Jensen are too pricey for us!)

Left back - it would be good to get Plastic back for another season, and it would be good to know what Armstrong's fitness is going to be. Worst case scenario is a new left back. Again, another loanee.

Kishnashvili will go back to Blackburn, so we will need a new centre half. With Mills, Pearce and a fading Ivar, experience will be key; yet another loanee?

Midfield seems strong enough for this level and will be better for the Years additional experience; I can see Marek leaving.

Noel Hunt is the issue here; will he come back fully fit? If so, then we will have a strike force of NHunt, Long, Rasiak, Church and HRK - another striker is always welcome, maybe Lambert from Southampton?

So, as usual, it will come down to fitness, availability, prices and loans.

DON'T EXPECT A SPENDING SPLURGE THOUGH!!!!

wolsey I agree with Spacey.

Looking forward to signings that we may not have heard of, didn't know enough of to give informed comments on (although I realise that won't stop the usual suspects), and see how how they develop under Brian.

(But then again I'm easily satisfied)

Callum davenport on a free and splash the cash on billy sharp to get us our 20 goal a season man.

Obviously neither of these will happen, as wcbap on davenport and other bigger teams will go after sharp but you can dream.

Davenport might be a bit of a gamble with his fitness, but if it paid off and he recaptured his old form it would be a decent addition.

We'll need some good strengthening again this summer, with plenty of issues to address and a few more to leave the squad.

It'll be a big test of McDermotts abilities as it's one thing to improve things in the way he has, but the build a long term squad is a bit different.

There is a good chance that Callum Davenport is going to have a holiday at Her Majesty's expense in the near future, so forget that one!

Its really the back four that needs surgery, we have a very competative midfield and with Hunt fit we look ok up front, so it will depend how much Madejski is prepared to put on the table, Griffin, Kishi and Bertrand would all be welcome additions but they will cost, Mills is going to be a giant at the back, and Armstrong is very injury depending.

Apart from those two we are very light there, I have lost a lot of confidence in Pearce and am not sure if he is going to cut it at this level. so come on John boy open the purse strings bring the three "loan" defenders in, and re-contract Gunnar as he has the ability to cover in midfield and at centre back, and that should be that.

Yes. The amount of names that are posted up on these things it would be impossible not to. Lita was definitely one.

When we signed Mills in the summer he was close to signing for Forest. Due to this we were looking at other possibilities and we made a bid for Davenport. He's been on the radar for a while. If he doesn't get sent down, then i'm sure we will be looking at the situation-especially if Ingimarsson doesn't sign a new contract

Kitson was one that was discussed at length on one of these, as was Murry, Bertrand came up last season and the likes of Cahil, O'Neil and Taylor were suggestions that the club also looked quite closely at.

The likes of Fae, Mensah, Rasiak, Smith and even Sigurdsson as a kid thanks to IcelandicStokie were players discussed as players the club were looking at as well.

I'm sure the club don't look on here for ideas though, and so any discussion is pretty pointless. Then again I don't think anyone actually thinks they're doing anything other than giving their opinion on who might be the type of player we need.

Craig Mackail-Smith (P'boro)
Ryan Bertrand (Chelsea)
Andy Griffin (Stoke)
Aron Gunnarsson (Coventry)
Bradley Orr (Bristol City)

And I know we won't be able to sign them All.

You like employing prison birds? Maybe we should get lee hughes as well :D

leww_rfc Aron Gunnarsson (Coventry)

I don't think we need another center midfielder!

Mackail smith is a good shout but we already have 4 strikers on our books a we need to buy 3 decent defenders to replace ivar, grif and bert if they all leave, which i expect them to. So i think our defence will be where most of the new signings will come in.

We'll probably be in the market for a central midfielder if we manage to get rid of Cisse and Matejovsky whilst also maybe letting Gunnarsson go as his contract is up isn't it?

We'll be left with Howard, Tabb, Karacan with Sigurdsson probably playing just in front of two of them. We might still have Davies as well I guess, although I think he might be on his way too.
