Portsmouth Set To Move For Watford's Tommy Smith - Report
Pompey are apparently readying an offer for the dynamic forward...
20 Aug 2009 19:13:05
Portsmouth could be set to bolster their attacking options with the acquisition of Watford winger Tommy Smith, a quick, skilful player whose absence from the top tier of English football in recent times has mystified many observers.
The former Derby County man, who can play wide or as a central striker, is on the verge of being the subject of a bid from the Fratton Park outfit, according to Sky Sports News.
However, the broadcaster also claims that Watford's Championship rivals Reading, managed by former Watford boss Brendan Rogers, could also be returning to the Hornets with an improved offer of around £1.5 million, after a bid was knocked back earlier in the summer.
Portsmouth looked in need of some additional craft going forward on Wednesday evening, as they were beaten 1-0 by Birmingham City at St Andrews, thanks to a late James McFadden penalty.

Royal Lady You guys saying that spending £2 million on one player shows we're not tight is laughable. £2 million is a lot of money, but we need more than ONE player to replace those we've lost. We have, what, two weeks left of the transfer window? Even if we DID also get Smith, which is looking increasingly shaky, we still need a couple more players and I can't see us spending any more money personally.

Hammond was away when the team photo was taken, on business apparently. I would take that as we are looking for two more players at the very least then.

How does that even remotely indicate that we are looking at TWO MORE PLAYERS AT THE VERY LEAST? You have nothing to back that up WHATSOEVER.
