Clyde1998
blythspartan Anyone know much about this lad?

Isn't this guy Robbie Savage's son? I believe he's a central midfielder, but don't really know how good he is. If we are in for him, I'd like to think he's at least of League One quality.

Had a good half season on loan at Forest Green so could be a good acquisition.

Now Twitter blocks anyone without an account seeing anything, any chance you could add some context to twitter links so those of us who don't want to join the cesspit have a clue what you're talking about?

Reading have made an approach to Manchester United for midfielder Charlie Savage, who spent time on loan at Forest Green last season. [

Basically he is a 20 year old midfielder who has been capped at Welsh youth levels and is essentially a DM who likes to get forward, so is similar to Robbie (who finished his career in a game at Reading). However he (Charlie) says he is more of a technical ball playing midfielder than daddy.

15 apps and 1 goal on loan at FGR earlier this year is the sum total of his league experience.

If we are getting loans in, guess he wouldn’t be a bad shout though he hardly seemed to boss it at FGR - though obvs a poor side

Was it Robbie Savage that we gave a standing ovation to years back as it was his last professional game? That could tip the scales in our favour, lol.

Far superior info about him from Sutekh.

Oh yeah. Memorable match. I was there. He walked off the pitch at the end wearing just his pants and vest. He threw everything else into the away end.
I have to say he won me over that day. We in the (then) north stand were giving him pelters when he went in goal, and he took it all good naturedly, and made a couple of decent saves, which were applauded by many, including myself.

Doesn't look too inspiring based on his previous experience at FGR, but hard to judge with how poor they were. Could be alright for us.

Harlee Dean is on trial with us. I’d be happy with this.

Yeah saw the name mentioned last week

As said then I think he’d be a good signing, though we’ve suddenly got a lot of CBs

Adeniran not happening though

Have always quite liked Harlee Dean from his Brentford days and we have done quite well in the past with players from Brentford.
IIRC he fell out with the management at Birmingham last season and hoping that he is not susceptible to injury (approaching age 32) he would probably be ok with us as a side just looking to consolidate in League 1.

As yet no signings give me the feeling that we are building for a promotion push but that's fine IMHO for this one season.

Chris Martin being rumoured. First rumour that makes me scream "NO". On a positive note though, we'd be close to building a footballing band with him alongside Sam Smith. Any others we could sign to fit in?

Massive NO to Chris Martin coming back. Easily makes my Top 5 Worst Loan Signings list. Just a really unlikeable player, who looked off the pace 5 years ago.

Tbf my initial reaction was the same. But it does sound like he was pretty unwell at the time and has had a couple of solid champ seasons in the last two years

Far from first choice but wouldn’t be too upset with it

He was suffering from that undiagnosed stomach problem when he was here previously, he has now recovered.

What's worrying is the current interest in the less successful players from last season's utterly cr@p QPR squad.

Bowel disease, but yeah.

When I was suffering I went down to less than 7 and a half stone and couldn’t go more than a few hours away from a toilet. Some people need major surgery with it. So no surprise he struggled.

Still a No though.

Charlie Savage is expected to join Reading in a permanent deal.

It includes a sell-on fee with an agreement that United can match any bid should they want to re-sign him.

Be delighted if this is the case, far happier than if it was a loan

Again without knowing a lot about him, the noise is that he has a very good attitude and works hard
