Snowball You had obviously "decided" Fryatt was gash.

So come on then show me the quote where I have said this? I might be waiting a long time. All I said is that his record in the Championship looks poor.

So please don't respond unless you are going to retract that above statement. It is completely false. This isn't the first time you have done this either. Stick to what people actually write.

I read this:

Fryatt has 93 career goals. He scored 32 of those in one season.
The remaining 61 goals were scored over the other 7 seasons.
I don't believe he is the consistent goal scorer we are after.

and the selective way it is presented as a deliberate attempt to make him look much worse than he is.

Point 1. His first season he was SEVENTEEN and barely played, went out on loan

Point 2. He had one season plagued by serious injuries, another with a club in crisis

But you chose to blur all these things and obscure seasons where he had 14, 15, 12, 32 goals by adding in his junior season and the injured period

15 goals from 24 (15) 2385 minutes when just 18 (A goal every 159 minutes)
14 goals from 28 (07) 2628 minutes when just 19 (A goal every 188 minutes)
32 goals from 50 (02) 4532 minutes when still only 22 (A goal every 142 minutes)
12 goals from 29 (04) 2671 minutes when just 23 (A goal every 223 minutes)

These seasons clearly show what he is capable of in a half-decent side and uninjured

And where in that does it say that Fryatt is gash? That's right it doesn't. So I'm still waiting for that retraction of your above comment. You would, and do, jump on people if they do that to you.

Stands along WR here, Fryatt has shown he can do well at a lower level, excellent record at the 3rd tier, much lower at 2nd tier. FACT

You do not use the word, "gash".

As far as I'm concerned you totally dissed the player. I interpret that as implying he's gash = not good enough for RFC

I will ensure, in the future only to use exact words when quoting.

chronicle says mcdermott has said there will be no more signings.

i have'nt seen a quote from him, but does'nt surprise me.

typical reading, "we're happy with what we've got"

we were never going to sign a striker imo, but it would made some sense for the club to have said "no more signings" after leigertwood signed, just to stop us being linked with every striker in this country.

No, I did not diss the player. I pointed out that a large proportion of his goals came in one season, that his championship record looks poor and that I didn't think he was the consistent striker we are looking for. I never said he wasn't very good and that he was crap. In noy opinion is that he is no better than what we already and appears to be very similar to Shane Long, except that he has at least had one high goalscoring season and has reached double figures in a Championship season.

Oh and here is a comment from a Leicester fan about Fryatt:
I honestly don't get the love-in from other clubs from this. Yes in 08/09 promotion he was brilliant, and he did well until he broke his jaw, but he's nowhere near the player he once was.

He doesn't have explosive pace, he's rubbish in the air, he's terribly ball greedy when he gets into good positions. (and not the good ball greedy like strikers 'should be') He did score two against Norwich earlier this season, then got himself sent off like a silly bint.

He's mid-table Championship level AT BEST. A club with any ambition, like Swansea, and probably Hull would not want to be investing in Fryatt. Loan at best, if you're desperate for a striker.

Plus when you hear him speaks he sounds like he should be asking you if you want cheese on your burger, but that's neither here nor there.

Anything that doesn't completely tally with his opinion and is anyway possibly interpreted as not positive is seen as a vicious slander on the player.

Understand this, put him on ignore and be a much happier person.

For once I think the Sun may be right, after all we allegedly wanted him a couple of weeks back and the situation hasn't exactly improved. Whether we actually get him or not is another matter. I know that our fans current opinion of our Club is maybe lower than the general perception within football but I can't help feeling it would be unlikely we would get a player who has a choice of Clubs especially when at least one of those Clubs is geographically close to his current one and another one is managed by his former Manager.

I think the only chance we might have is if we were prepared to offer him a permanent deal and Forest for example weren't.

Time will tell but I think we will end up with a player with a much less established reputation who other Clubs don't want to gamble on. Players like Benyon or Mackail-Smith. However if we scrape together a couple of results between now and when the window opens expect the 'very happy with the current squad' policy.

Sky Sports are also reporting that as well as bidding for Fryatt Hull have been given permission to speak with Aaron McLean so I assume a fee has been agreed with Peterborough. Also said they had bid for Austin turned down.

Incidentally the same report syas that Peterborough want three million for Mackail-Smith. I would say that is a very good example of what McDermott has described as phenomenal asking prices. I must admit I had him down as about a tenth of that.
