Hope this is just crap from the Mirror. There are better strikers out there admittedly at a higher price

Homo Erectus !!

anyway , it's not a rumour.... It's true that we approached NU on Friday , just before we won 4-0 , how ironic that everyone pulls their finger out , when they think they might be dropped for a loanee... maybe just a good bit of psychology from Brian ???????

God I hope this doesn't happen, sure we need more fire power but Leon Best is no better than what we already have

Just looked on soccerbase and has not scored in the last 23 championship games he has played in, last goal against QPR 28/11/2009 in league

All i'd say in his defense is he only really started playing as a regular starter in his last season for Coventry before Newcastle spent good money on him as he was playing well for them.

If he was to walk in the door tomorrow, he improves the squad. That's all you can ask from the loan market.

Should fit in well with our other strikers.

As far as I can see Best is not in the Newcastle squad for tonight's Carling Cup match even though they have rested quite a few players.

When I saw the rumour, I wasn't impressed but thinking about it, what other strikers are available, willing to come to us on loan and within our price range? If he does come here in a 4-4-2 he gives us something our other 3 strikers don't.

Kevin Phillips, better option than Best IMHO.

Philips would be a better option, but with higher wages, no chance

Fact is, if we manage to sign a striker with sufficient league experience at any level it can only be viewed as more competition for our current three

Best, has played championship football and i reckon would'nt be a bad addition
