SPECULATION : ROONEY

by rollsy » 29 Nov 2010 18:19

No not that one, but the striker at Inverness Cally Thistle.

good on the ball, and composed in front of goal. proven against "good" sides such as Celtic and Rangers. Just remember the last striker we got from the SPL was NHunt, and he is quality.

Yeah but on the other side of the coin look at the dross Burns signed - most were SPL regulars.

Interesting one, have seen him play a few times up here at Caley, and yes he looks ok, but also at Caley, and starring most weeks for them, is Jonothan Hayes, he never made it with us or his other English clubs either, so probably just a case where they both "fit in" up here. Not sure either of them would cut it in the Championship.

Not many ex SPL stars really cut it down here, and vice versa; Celtic fans love Samaras who was simply gash down ere.

Not really that good. Hasn't scored against the old firm so I would hardly say he's proven against good sides. Yes he has got 13 goals this season but the majority of those have comes against sides towards the bottom of the SPL, Hamilton, Hubs and Aberdeen.

Scored 26 goals against fodder in SD1 last season but hasnt really seemed to do the business in England, scored his first ever Professional goal at the Madejski.

Hunt has hardly set the world alight down here and I doubt Rooney would be any better.

13 Goals in his first season in 29 (10) playing 60 minutes most starts. That's pretty good

In a substandard league against substandard players. Pretty good isn't good enough.

Would rather have that Jonny Hayes bloke. The name's recognisable...but can't think where from.

Was with us as a youngster, may have made a couple of sub appearances in cups possibly? Went to Leicester and Cheltenham IIRC afterwards and never cut it

I tend to agree with the people that are wary of signing players based on their record in the Scottish league and he didn't really cut it when he played down in England although he is more experienced now. I had a feeling he had scored against the mighty Royals when he was at Stoke and having looked it up it was in April 2006.

I wasn't discussing Rooney. I was discussing your dismissal of a very decent CCC player
