Reading have been linked with a shock summer swoop for former Manchester United flop Bebe.

The Portuguese striker famously signed for the Red Devils in 2010 for a fee of around £7.5 million, despite Sir Alex Ferguson admitting he had never seen him play.

He failed to make his mark at Old Trafford, however, making just six appearances during a four-year spell before leaving to join Benfica last summer.

But having struggled to force his way into the side at the Estadio da Luz, he was promptly loaned out to Spanish Primeira Liga outfit Cordoba in January, where he has now gone 16 matches without scoring.

Despite that unimpressive record in front of goal, reports over the weekend suggest that Reading are lining up a shock move to bring him back to England
