I'd say it's clear that RFC aren't bothered about keeping Sidwell, nor is he that keen to stay.

That 3 year deal was just a front to hide the truth...

Lucky we have SDR to keep us PROPERLY informed !!

This is probably just the usual attention seeking crap from Dodger and I can't say I believe Sidwell's about to go anywhere (that said I didn't believe Pardew would join West Ham either).

If Sidwell were to go the timing would be awful with the season 2 weeks away. However, if we were to lose him for £2Mil + I think it could actually boost our chances of going up, provided that the fee was added to Coppell's transfer budget and spent wisely. £2 Mil would buy 2 or 3 very good players for this league.

I would prefer to keep Sidwell, but if he went at the right price it wouldn't be a disaster. Can't see him wanting to sign for Palace, but you never know. As Billy said, I didn't think Pardew would go to West Ham........

I am just as concerned that Pompey are now short in central midfield with Faye not being transferred because of a knee problem,The Russian having gone back to Chelsea and Hammond being at the Wycombe v Pompey friendly.

Steve Sidwell isn't going anywhere.

He is an honest lad and would never commit himself to the new 3 year deal if he actually wanted out!

There may have been no 'out' on offer when he signed.
A properly dealt with deal would not be dishonest. it would be very disappointing though.
The source of this is what makes it so unlikely though !
Interesting that non of SDR's Media chums have thought it a strong enough story to print. Coul dit be the nearest they get to the 'Media' is A level Media studies at Basingtsoke Tech ?

No matter how insightfulful Dodger might be, i dont see any chance of Sidwell leaving just weeks after signing a contract and verbally saying to the fans that he wants to play in the premiership but with Reading

Alan Titchmarsh Go Away Dodger

Exactly

Dodger? Do you get off on spreading these rumours or something?
Some sort of "Transfer Rumour Fetish"?

Dodger doesn't seem to have any contacts at all.

Sidwell was subject to some interest prior to his signing of the new deal but nothing since, if Dodger did infact have sources he would know that.

STEVE Sidwell says nothing can stop the rumours linking him with a move to the Premiership - even signing a new contract.

Reading's all-action midfielder recently signed a new three year deal until June 2007.

But even now Sidwell, 21, cannot shake of whispers linking him with a big-money move following interest from Aston Villa and other top flight clubs.

"Hopefully this will stop the speculation about me moving somewhere else but I doubt it," said the ex-England under-21 international.

"Straight after I signed I heard some fans say I was looking to move on so I can't win in any situation really.

"But I'm not bothered about that. I've signed and I'll let people think what they like."

Sidwell sat out full training for the early part of the week after receiving a dead leg in a full-blooded challenge with ex-Royal John Salako during Sunday's 1-0 defeat at Brentford.

But the flame-haired midfielder admits the squad has been buzzing all week under boss Steve Coppell and coaches Kevin Dillon and Wally Downes.

"I worked with Wally at Brentford and he's come in and done a fantastic job.

"He's come to sort out the defence and get us working more as a unit. We've only conceded one goal all pre-season but the big test will be how we perform against Manchester City on Monday."

Sidwell is expected to be fit to start against Manchester City in Reading's showpiece friendly at the Madejski Stadium (8pm ko).
